After my initial review I am forced to eat my words! I had originally said that I felt this was "too young" for my 3 year old, but I can honestly say this is one of his most enjoyable books. He loves it, and after reading it with him I realised that he is old enough to understand the word play in the book - if he was younger he may not have done i.e. "Goldiloctopus" It is colourful, clever, well put together and almost in the league of "Haunted House". In fact it is so good I bought one as a present for a friends 3 year old too. Highly recommended.

My 2 year old is a total bookworm, she loves looking at books and being read to. Whilst discussing this with a friend recently, she suggested that she might enjoy Nick Sharratt books as all three of her children enjoy his stories. I ordered this (and others as a result.)
We were not disappointed. Octopus -socktopus is silly and totally captures the imagination of children and adults alike.
The illustrations are brightly coloured and engaging, the pop-up element just adds to the silliness and excitement of this simple but clever book. My daughter loves "chickenpoktopus" the best. Having recently had chicken pox this really appealed to her. There really is an octopus for everyone! Punk-rocktopus & party-frocktopus are particular favourites of the adults in our household.
Nick Sharratt has an incredible ability to tap into children's creative minds in a way that few authors can. His stories and illustrations are laugh out loud funny, enjoyable read for all the family...

Octoopus Socktopus is a book which both my two and three year old are enjoying. There isn't much educational value to it, but it is good fun, brightly coloured and has got their imaginations going!

Some pages pop up as you turn the page, others have flaps to lift. It show lots of different octopus's. From a helicopterpus (with helicopter blades that stick out of the page) through to a chickenpocktopus (an octopus with chicken pox!...). There are lots of very brightly coloured pictures and something that can be discussed on each page so long as you use your imagination a bit.

This is a book that I am a little careful of leaving with my two year old as I am worried she could pull the bits out of the book when my back is turned. However, it is a fun book which I look at with both my children on a regular basis.

Recommended.

This book is fantastic. I bought it along with two of his other books to take with me on a long haul flight. My 13 moth old son just loved it. He played with it for ages and every time we put it away he pointed at it again. He particularly enjoyed the cuckoo Clocktopus and toffee Choctopus, spending ages pulling and opening the flaps. He also enjoyed the Eight - wheeled octobus, needless to say some of the wheels are now gone with the constant use. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with young children, the bright colours and lots of different things to do on each page will keep them amused for ages.

This is such a great book, both my sons (aged 4 & 18 months) absolutely love it. My eldest understands the play on words / quirkiness now my youngest just loves the colours, pictures and rhyming sounds. We all giggle as we read.

Riotous colour, rhyming text and funny jokes make this a must have book for babies and toddlers everywhere. Absolutely glorious book and if they like this then you can get "Elephant Wellyphant" for them as well!

I first borrowed this book from the local library but my 2 and 4 year olds now want their own copy. They find it really fun and don't seem to get bored of this book!
