October Breezes Is with out a doubt an amazing book with Skye as the main character with her p.o.v.As Skye's story played out i found myself drawn in to her life and all the things she was feeling and i found myself cry with her and feel her pain and the utter hopeless she felt her life was becoming with to one to help she makes choices which will change her life forever.

The other characters In this book I loved are Devin her best friend since childhood was just so sweet and I just wanted Skye to wake up and see he could be so much more than her best friend insted of the boy she starts going out with and Warren her mum's soon to be husband i really liked him the first time he's introduced into the story and just wished that Skye could see he is what a dad should be you could just tell how much he wanted to be her dad to her and prove that her dad didn't deserve her at all.

This book is going to remain one of my favorites of 2011 book 2 is called Summer Sunsets and even better than this book when the story carry's on

Gripping read! 24 Oct 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I was quickly taken with this book. Although, I have to say, Skye did annoy me at times - I don't know why but she could be a little bratty. Anyway, that said, what happens in this book is a roller-coaster ride of different emotions. I felt really sorry for Skye in the end and I really think that both Devin and Kellin should have supported her a little more - but that's just my personal opinion. The story, overall, was an engaging read; there was a lot going on and I really didn't know what was going to be thrown at Skye next. I really enjoyed it and will certainly read the sequel.

Real. Powerful. Emotional. 14 July 2010
By Stacy L. Daniels - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
October Breezes tackles some tough subjects faced by teenage girls with raw honesty. Sixteen-year old Skye has trust issues, abandonment issues, and struggles with her self-worth. She has always tried to push people away, convinced they will eventually leave anyway. She has a lot of issues to deal with but tries to cope the best she can, until an act of violence almost destroys her world. Skye must find the strength and courage to pick up the pieces and make the choice to move forward, deciding who to trust as she slowly heals. The story is exceptionally well-written and packs a powerful punch, I was moved to tears as my heart ached for Skye. I think all teenage girls should read this book, and parents as well.

THIS BOOK FLIPPED MY WORLD UPSIDE DOWN 20 July 2011
By READING, EATING & DREAMING - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Some books make me laugh out loud, some make me cry. Some books receive fist pumps (oh yeah!) and some cause me to roll my eyes and sigh. Some books barely skim the surface of my emotions and some FLIP MY WORLD UPSIDE DOWN! October Breezes by Maria Rachel Hooley falls into the last category.

October Breezes by Maria Rachel Hooley is phenomenal! It tells an extremely powerful, emotional and heartbreaking story.

Don't judge this book based on its short description because, let me tell you, it doesn't do this book justice!!! Judge this book based on what I am about to tell you ;) Personally, I am glad Hooley left this description vague because I don't like when authors give away too much, too soon. I'll tell you this: October Breezes tackles many pressing issues young adults face. And, in my opinion, if you were told which specific issues, before you read this novel, it would ruin the wonderful element of surprise and take away from your reading experience.

The book summary mainly highlights the supporting story in this novel- the conflict between Skye Williams and Warren Jacobs, her mom's recent boyfriend. This was the best subplot I have ever read! It's moving...it's heartfelt...it's creative...it brought me to tears! (Okay, I have to tell you my absolute favorite part!! If you haven't read this book yet, what I am about to say will make very little sense. Don't worry this isn't a big spoiler...I am going to choose my wording carefully. But after you read this book, I want you to remember what I am about to say: To Kill a Mockingbird. I am obsessed with every sentence in this book that pertains to this book- the inscription, the struggle and mostly for what it represents).

The plot in October Breezes takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride. It portrays how a single event can have a domino effect and put someone's life on a complete spiral. It was one of those stories where I couldn't help but wrap myself into the main character and feel everything Hooley transcribed. This story is disturbing (in a good way)! And, it offers realistic perspective. BRAVO Hooley!

I gave October Breezes by Maria Rachel Hooley 4 STARS. This suspenseful and tragic tale should be read, especially by females!! If you're in search of a happy, fluffy read this isn't the book you are looking for. But the next time you are ready to have your world flipped upside down...pick up this book!

-XOXO
