Amazon.co.uk Review

Like its predecessor Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve has a preposterous plot given juice and vitality by the combination of movie star glamour and the exuberant filmmaking skill of director Steven Soderbergh (Out of Sight, The Limey). The heist hijinks of the first film come to roost for a team of eleven thieves (including the glossy mugs of Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Bernie Mac, and Don Cheadle), who find themselves pursued not only by the guy they robbed (silky Andy Garcia), but also by a top-notch detective (plush Catherine Zeta-Jones) and a jealous master thief (well-oiled Vincent Cassel) who wants to prove that team leader Danny Ocean (dapper George Clooney) isn't the best in the field. As if all that star power weren't enough--and the eternally coltish Julia Roberts also returns as Ocean's wife--one movie star cameo raises the movie's combined wattage to absurd proportions. But all these handsome faces are matched by Soderbergh's visual flash, cunning editing, and excellent use of Amsterdam, Paris, and Rome, among other highly decorative locations. The whole affair should collapse under the weight of its own silliness, but somehow it doesn't--the movie's raffish spirit and offhand wit soar along, providing lightweight but undeniably enjoyable entertainment. --Bret Fetzer

No real point 12 Jan 2006
By A Customer
Format:DVD
After enjoying Oceans 11 this film is a real let-down.
The plot was contrived, convoluted, and boring.
Character development was nil.
The stars were all there looking good, but no amount of talent was going to save the tedious sceenplay.

Popcorn 30 Dec 2005
By Dinky VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
It's slick, it's fun, it's well-produced, it's well cast. Watch it for an hour or so's entertainment: shallow, not very meaningful, full of eye candy for men as well as women (provided you're not into female blondes), but enjoyable. Good if you're looking for a snack rather than fulfillment through film. Don't expect juicy steak -- it's strictly popcorn fare.

Worst Film Ever? 18 Jan 2009
Format:DVD
To give this film one star is to over rate it, in fact it's a crime against cinema and if viewed in isolation is enough to justify the closure of the entire movie making business.

The story, what there is of it, centres around the Oceans 11 crew being given two weeks to raise the funds to pay back the money taken from the heist in the first movie. This time though the film is played entirely for "laughs", the problem is that it' fails both as a comedy and as a heist film.

The movie centres entirely on Clooney, Pitt and Damon so that the other members of the crew receive no character development at all, in fact I'm at a loss to see exactly what purpose the other crew members serve other than to make up the numbers and save the film being called Oceans 3.

Member 12 is Catherine Zeta Jones playing a totally unconvincing Europol head - acting so wooden that it makes Pinnochio look Oscar material. The story is incoherent and smug in it's own cleverness - witness the scene with Robbie Coltrane, Clooney, Pitt and Damon where the four communicate in nonesense verse. Damon doesn't get it so quotes a Led Zeppelin lyric. Only, you have to know that it's a Zeppelin lyric to get the "joke" as the only clue is when Pitt mumbles "Kashmir?" Even knowing that it's a Zep song still doesn't save the scene from being pointless nonesense.

You know you've been taken for a ride when the film spends ten minutes at the end showing you exactly what happenned and how the crew pull off their sting. Just to let you know that you, as a viewer, really are a dumpling and are so intellectually inferior to the movie makers.

Perhaps the greatest conceit is when Julia Roberts plays Clara playing Julia Roberts in a cameo with Bruce Willis...

Good grief, this is total rubbish; everyone associated with this pile of poop should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

Save yourself money and time, go read a book instead or listen to David Bowie, Lou Reed, Steve Kilbey. Anything other than watch this. Please, learn from my mistake - that's two hours of my life I'll never get back!

Good
Just like the other two films. I personally enjoy the films and always watch them back to back. I think Clooney, Pitt and Damon are brilliant in them.

Ghastly beyond belief. The phrase 'style over substance' doesn't come close to describing the unintelligible snippets, jump-cuts or time-leaps that typify this clunker of a film. Read more

Well it was rated by critics as one of the worst film sequels ever
Quite frankly this is the ugly ducking out of the three modern ocean films. Its so awful. It has a promising start but then it just gets worse. Just so so so much worse. Read more
