Product Description

Oceans Eleven

From Amazon.co.uk

Leave it to the Chairman of the Board to rope in a great director for the first Rat Pack movie, Ocean's Eleven. Lewis Milestone (All Quiet on the Western Front) did indeed direct this 1960 caper movie starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop; but the results now seem like more of a historical artefact than a good piece of entertainment. The tone of the film is curiously serious--much more so than Steven Soderbergh's fluffy 2002 remake--one somehow expected that the Rat Pack would have made a more buoyant first picture. But it is something to see these guys together, if only for reasons of nostalgia.--Tom Keogh, Amazon.com

A simple twist on a daring robbery that has a good light hearted element. A group of ex army pals get together to rip off several casinos. A vehicle for the Rat Pack, but who cares - ? It was a great film - with a nifty twist right at the end. Far superior to the George Clooney remake which was just too smart for its own good.

This is a great film. I enjoyed the remake but this is a so much better film. The Rat pack at their best. The acting was easy for them all since they seemingly just played themselves. So obvious they enjoyed filming with each other. I would recommend buying this film to anyone.

Yep,it's purely a vehicle for the Rat-Pack,a little drawn out,but if you're a fan of Sinatra and the boys, then this is a must. The new version has been described as slick and sexy, well, these guys CREATED the mould.Filmed in the days when men were men,and the stars weren't film actors but true movie stars (there's a difference),this film oozes class and style which was not manufactured or created to do so.Sure,it's not p.c,slightly chauvanistic, and the plot is lacking slightly, but just sit back and watch the guys do what they do best naturally. For me,one of the film's highlights is Dean Martin crooning 'aint that a kick in the head'.

I got it for the comparison, of course, and frankly, this one falls flat. It feels very dated. The pace is glacial, the expected snappy dialogue is neither snappy, nor (credible) dialogue, and the plot is even more cliche than the remake.
But the Lat Pack (oun intended) is what it is, and they dress to a T, so they get a second start just for that.

Good old movie,a it dated by today's standards. Wanted to see how much Vegas had changed over the years.would recommend just to see the rat pack.

A story with class and is still better in my view than all the recent remakes. It also shows what the place was like then, so different to today.

A great movie from the Rat Pack and friends, with a great ending. Puts the later Clooney version and its sequels to shame.
