This collection is about Art in its broadest sense. It is a gallery of poems inspired by and about paintings from the Renaissance to those made last week, poems about the act of creating beautiful objects from many cultural traditions and periods, along with art created by Mother Nature in the sea, stones, trees and rivers. There are miniatures and large canvases, portraits of people, places and fish. These poems are meant to do with a pen what artists do with a brush.

A fine, memorable collection of poems,

It can be argued that poetry is rather like playing the blues. More or less anyone can play an eight-bar (or write a poem), but to do it with soul and passion is another matter entirely. Kate Noakes' 'Ocean to Interior' provides ample proof that she falls into the latter category - it's a collection of fine, well-crafted poems that repays repeated reading. 'Memento Mori' and 'Aran Knitting' are personal favourites - you will find your own. Well worth investigating, and I look forward to reading more of her work.
