Ignore Victors review, obviously AB's had a different life to cadets. I was also a deck cadet through the 70's ,with a totally different company and route, but it brought back so many memories that it could have been a diary of my first trip.A fantastic tale, well written and extremely funny, (Oh to be 17 again!) I couldn't put it down and went straight out to buy the sequel,

Highly Recommended 5 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This is EASILY the funniest book I ever read. that's probably all you need to know but it's also a touching read, with the dodgy stuff to do with sailors and their lifestyle handled hilariously and sensitively. To have experienced a journey like this AND to have the writing ability to deliver it AND to be so funny... It all comes together in this book. Having read it, I feel I know Windy as if I grew up with him on the journey and I can't wait to read the sequel. I pray that if it's even half as good as Ocean Boulevard then I have a treat still in store, and THEN I'm going to turn round and read this one all over again. Pure magic.

Really amusing and highly entertaining - you can't help but love Windy as he takes you through the highs and lows of his sea-faring journey. Was so funny, I couldn't put it down.

Good Fun
This was a nice lighthearted read. It's a pity that the relationships between men and women were so full of misunderstandings. The sex is very coy and without the gory details. Read more
