Product Description

Review

"Diana Kloss writes with great authority on occupational health law. With experience gained as honorary senior lecturer, barrister, part–time employment judge, arbitrator, member of the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council and chair of the Council for Work and Health, she covers a wide range of topics with great authority, backing up her assertions with solid references to research and case law. " (Nursing Standard, 16 March 2011) "In summary, this is an essential reference source for those working in occupational health. It is expensive, yet represents good value for money. Given the implications of law for occupational medicine practice, this is essential reading for OH physicians." (Occupational Medicine, 2 0 1 0) "The delight of OHL is that it caters for experts and those new to the subject.  The opening chapter is an excellent introduction to the way law works.  Thereafter, it follows a logical path through medical records and pre–employment screening, to health and safety and discrimination law.  It remains an invaluable and enjoyable text." ( Occupational Health at Work , July–August 2010)

Review

‘This is essential reading. The revealing case histories are an education in themselves. Clear, straight to the point exposition makes the book superb value for money and invaluable as a reference.’
Journal of Occupational Safety and Health

‘What makes this book special is not just the mine of useful and expert information but its readability and compassion, which, in a legal textbook, has to be as rare as hen’s teeth.’
Journal of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment

‘Explores the complete landscape of occupational health and workers’ rights … a reference not only for those lobbying or legislating, but also for occupational health care professionals and human resources departments.’
Euroabstracts

‘Very informative, concise and detailed.’

Occupational Health Law is an essential, comprehensive and up–to–date reference source for OH professionals.′
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH [at Work]

"Occupational Health Law remains an essential reference... One of the book′s greatest strengths is its clear explanation of this aspect of British employment law to the non–lawyer. A book for the practice library certainly as well as the DMLS reference collection, but also essential reading for anyone undertaking AFOM or even, in my view, D Occ Med Training."
N K Cooper, HQ BFG Health Service

This is the best "Occupational Health" Law book.
It is clear concise and well designed. The auther, obviuosly knows her onions and transfers that knowledge in an easy to read and understandable way. The text is "idiot-proof" and answers alot of current issues that affect the d1scipline.

This book is invaluable for anyone involved on occupational health practice. It has masses of useful information. It is grounded in legal expertise supplemented by informed commentary on relevant OH issues. This book is a bit out of date now as it misses the Equality Act. None the less, a useful addition to the bookshelf pending the next edition.

Great if you are studying British Law 20 Jun 2013
By Burketown Books - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This book is written about British law, and even compares itself, on occasion to the U.S., for example in the increase in law suits initiated by citizens. American law is based on British law, and referenced when we have no basis of reference of our own in America, but that is not the case for Occupational law.

It appears that Amazon has merged the two ISBN versions under one description, doing a great disservice to the buyer. Unless you don't care which book or get, or unless you have been instructed to get this book as a text, I would move on to another book with a focus on American Occupational law.
