Book Description

25 Aug 2009 Ghost Hunters (Book 6)

Three months ago, Lyra Dore suffered a heartbreak and a hostile takeover - both at the hands of the same man. A descendant of her ancestors' fierce rival. Cruz Sweetwater charmed his way into Lyra's heart and gained access to her pet project, an amethyst ruin. Then he took over the project and took off. When Cruz walks back into her life and requests a private meeting, Lyra convinces herself he's there to crawl and beg forgiveness. Wrong again - he just needs her help. With the project he stole from her.

Five innocent men are trapped inside a chamber in the amethyst ruin, and Lyra is the only one who can reopen the door. Reluctantly she agrees to help. Then Cruz wants her to apply her talents to the rest of the ruin - because no one else can work it. Lyra and Cruz are both harboring psychic secrets. Unknown - and dangerous - powers pulse within the amethyst ruin, and the closer Lyra gets to them, the more at risk she becomes. And now she must decide whether to trust her guts or her heart...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as usual 8 Dec 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have been a devotee of Ms Castle under all her pseudonyms, but this one left me feeling a little disappointed. The characters did not have the vividness I usually associate with her work. I love this series and have them all and re read them often, but this time found the story line a little flat, and the hero and heroine not as riverting. Nevertheless I will await the next title in the series with impatience. Just because one book does not go down as well does not mean the END. Every writer has not only off days...but off books as well, believe me I know !! I have literally dozens of her books and the only ones I have not taken to are those in her Arcane series.
But dust bunnies to the rescue.. Ms Castle and more power to your keyboard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Up to her susual standard 22 Mar 2013

I love her books, but especially the Jayne Castle ones on Harmony or St Helens. I promise myself I'll take it slowly and make it last - like a long awaited treat - but when the time comes I just gobble them up too quickly. More please!

I rather liked this book. I agree the characters were not as interesting as those in some of her other books and the 'baddie' was pretty obvious but it helped pass a cold wet miserable day for me - when I had a stinking head cold - quite happily. Perhaps because I read it after having just finished the dreary waste of time that was 'Midnight Crystal' I was inclined to be less critical - or maybe the hot toddy and bag of chocs as I huddled under the duvet on my sofa reading it helped. The heroine was slightly irritating and the hero could have been a bit more charismatic. Also truth to tell she and the hero were rather slow at identifying the baddie. On the whole though i have to say while it was not the best it was certainly not the worst of the Harmony series I've read. I rate it more than 'OK' but not an 'I love it'- so 'I like it' hits the mark for me

3.0 out of 5 stars corny ending 5 Aug 2010
By Cherry
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I had a hard time getting into this book, unlike it's predecessors where it was grab-you-and-take-you-away from page one. And the ending was a little bit too corny for my liking. The twists and plots is slightly predictable. About one-third into the book and I was pretty sure who the bad guys are which proved to be correct at the end. Still an enjoyable read. Story-telling quality is 4 out of 5. But on the whole, I give this book a 3.

Cherry's Rating: 3 out of 5
