This book is all encompassing with something for everyone. Be it humour or technical, you want it, you got it! -- Julian Cundiff, Carp Fisher Magazine

This excellent book will continue to fan the flames of an already roaring fire. You are in for a treat. -- Chris Ball - Carp-Talk

Product Description

Dave Lane is one of Britain's most succesful big fish anglers. This is a big, big read. From Dave's early carp fishing exploits the reader is taken on an incredible journey to the big fish meccas of Harefield, Pit Four, Horton and the incredible Wraysbury.
Written in his own inimitable style, Dave's philosophy, methods, baits and rigs are fully explained. But this is much more than a technical book. It is the story of one man's great desire to catch huge carp from some of Britains's hardest waters. It is a story of sacrifice, of pain, of challenge, of friendship, of laughter, of joy and of undreamt of acheivement. It is the story of one man's obsession, an obession that led him to turn his back on a normal everyday existence in the pursuit of monster carp.
This is an unmissable read for all carp anglers, regardless of their experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars An angling classic 30 Jan 2003
Sometimes a fishing book is produced that is head and shoulders above the rest. This is one. I have loads of angling books and this is in my top five.
As the book progresses through Dave's catches the sheer effort he made to catch is overwhelming. By explaining how he approached each water I learnt a great deal how to set about the 'impossible' task of catching huge carp.
Fantastic pictures of some of the huge fish he has been fortunate enough to catch and 312 pages make this a big read too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant read from Dave Lane 10 Jun 2014

A great read from a great Carp angler ! Dave is a talented writer who drags the reader with him into the next peg in order to share his fishing adventures and subtle humour. I read Daves other book "A Flick of the tail" which is equally as good and is highly recommended.

Take it fishing when you go. Very inspirational. Wraysbury has gone now, so it's good history for the lake. Nice book Dave.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great carp book. 27 Nov 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Dave Lane is a natural story teller, his passion and addiction for carp fishing is obvious. He gives the reader an insight into what it takes to be one of the countries top anglers. I would recommend this book to any carp angler who wants to be motivated to go out and catch himself or herself a monster carp. To summarise Dave Lane comes across as a very talented carp angler but also a top bloke who you would want to go fishing with.
