Just so that everyone knows, Amazon's description is wrong. This is actually an excellent 1949 British Crime Thriller with Robert Newton. Nothing to do with Brian De Palma at all. Not sure what the DVD is like but I saw it on the t.v. the other week and it was very good indeed

Great movie starring Robert Newton (the man with the handsome eyes!)

A Doctor catches his wife having an affair for the umpteenth time. This time he's had enough of her cheating and intends to do something about it and so plans the 'perfect murder'. As always, something goes amiss, and with the help of a loveable little dog, there's a great big spanner thrown into the works!

Stars Naunton Wayne as the man who has to solve the mystery.

Great and above average 1940s British Classic!

Can't comment on the DVD release, but I saw this on T.V. several years ago and loved it. It had a rather unconvincing happy ending tacked on to it, otherwise it was a great thriller. Robert Newton was excellent, Naunton Wayne as the investigating policeman even better. Afternoon telly granted, but as good as it gets.
