Product Description

Product Description
The Observer's Year is likely to become a classic for years to come. It will not "date" and will appeal to amateur astronomers almost regardless of their experience. There are 365 nights in every year (366 in a leap year!) and from the amateur astronomer's point of view, no two are alike. That is why Patrick Moore has written this unique book to highlight special objects of interest on every night of the year. He talks about the history of the constellations, double stars, nebulae, the moon, planets, even the asteroids. Beginning January 1st, he works through the year night by night...

5.0 out of 5 stars Patrick Moore, The Observers Year, 14 May 2004
By Glcave "John 'trekkie' Cave" (Huyton Mereyside U.K.) - See all my reviews
This a brilliant work that shows astronomers, whether they are beginners or more advanced, where to look in the night sky on each and every night of the year. It gives clear and easy to understand star charts for both northern and southern observers. The book is also full of Sir patricks unique style of anecdotal comments of what the observer is going to see. There are also border boxes that show special anniversaries for specific days of the year and also things to watch for in the future.

This is Patrick Moore at his best and is a must for all astronomers and for all Patrick Moore fans.
