Simply insert the olive into the pitter, and press the handle together to de-stone. Very fast delivery from Amazon even on super saver delivery - this arrived two days after I ordered. The stoner is very easy to use and has a light but sturdy feel. It doesnt take too much pressure to use and can be easily squeezed with one hand. The shield is removable and can be stored where the cherry is placed and it locks shut so that it takes up less room in the kitchen drawer. I almost bought one of the very cheap stoners, but saw that this one was recommended by another reviewer, and its certainly worth the extra money.

Having struggled last year scraping stones out of damsons as they cooked, this year I invested in this multi-purpose device. It does the job perfectly, with a damson in place, one quick squeeze and the stone squirts out with a satisfying ping. An excellent purchase!

Too small for large olives
I ordered this to extract the pits from large olives. The olives though don't fit in the pitter so it is a complete waste of money.
