Mine snapped in two while scooping ice-cream too.
I used to be a fan of OXO's range of kitchen ware, but so far I've had a garlic press, ice-cream scoop and soap pump break on me through normal use.
Some of their tools claim to have lifetime warranties but that is non-existant in UK as far as I can see, since their contacts do not return emails or answer queries.
Very disappointing.

I can highly recomend oxo utensils. Suffering as I do with Arthritis in my hands, the easy grip handles of these products are so good. I have even purchased them for my mother.

Excellent comfortable grip, it's just a shame the scoop snapped in half
on contact with the ice cream!!! unbelievable!!! I also notice it doesn't carry
a "life time warranty" like it's cheaper version the OXO Good Grips Ice Cream Scoop.

Multi-purpose scoop
