Well balanced tool with a user-friendly hand-grip that does an excellent job of beating out escallopes of meat with far less effort than my old wooden mallet. Not much else to say, really. Don't have a dishwasher, so no problems there - and in fairness the packaging does clearly warn against putting it in said machine. Shouldn't be an issue for any but the terminally lazy since hand-washing is quick and easy with no discolouration of the metal. Can't fault it in any way.

I was aware from reading the other reviews that this product was not suitable to be cleaned in the dishwasher and that is the only reason it does not get 5 stars. Othewise it is an excellent product and very easy to clean so the lack of dishwasher compatability is no hardship. As a rule of thumb, all oxo kitchen products I have bought have always been very well made and I have been very happy with them, this meat tenderiser being no exception.

good quality grip handle.makes a huge difference to steaks or pork chops.they are much easier to cook.well worth the money!

dishwasher problems
Very good product but it gets discoulered and unless washed with boiling water I wasnt happy that the raw meat might not contaminate the next time I was hammering out veal instead... Read more

Sturdy little pounder!
Simply put this is a good meat tenderiser. You can't go wrong with it.
Do not soak in water and hand-wash only.... it should last you for a very long time.

Brilliant
I owned one of these so bought it for my sister in law.
Really excellent meat tenderiser, but heed the warnings and don"t put it in the dishwasher as the metal discolours!

Do not put in dishwasher
The instructions tell you not to put this item in a dishwasher. Follow those instructions otherwise you will end up with a coating of gray sludge.... the metal compound reacts. Read more
