Lawless was lame, but I persisted with DP hardbacks & bought Renegade, which renewed my faith in her. I then bought Before Sunrise, which was forgettable, but I thought that as Colby Lane's book has been so long in the making, and he's featured so much in other books that it had to be great. Well, big disappointment. Apparently he gets the heroine pregnant on the night of their forced marriage (he takes her, she just lies there, and he realises this, but has only very little regret) and she gets pregnant from that one episode & the marriage gets annulled. He marries someone else, the love of his life, who betrays him & he's never thought of the heroine in all of this time until she turns up at his new job. He's ill, she's sponging him down & without a word they have a quickie in the shower, and another a bit later. There are no admissions of love & the book focuses more on other LTT characters, who are just name-dropped regularly, with backgrounds, which takes up a lot of the book. It seems that this book was written just to conclude the arrest of Cara & pulling the plug on the Lopez drug cartel, both of which featured in another book (forgettable too). I wish I'd waited for the paperback to come out, as I would have saved myself a lot of money on a mediocre book. I was a die-hard fan, and I have already reserved her Sep06 LTT paperback, but I will certainly NOT be buying another hardback. Too much hype - I wonder what DP thinks of this, as similar comments have been made on the chat section of her own website. Do youyrselves a favour and wait for the paperback edition.
