After much searching for the right universal remote control I finally settled on this model, I wanted something simple to use but with enough added features to not make me be grabbing for the original remotes all the time in order to perform certain tasks. This seemed to fit the bill so I ordered one and so far have not been dissapointed.

Setting up the remote is fairly simple, a technophobe would probably have problems but if you are confident in using new gadgets this should be a breeze to set up.

I setup my TV using the codes in the back which worked fine, all I needed out of the remote for the tv was to change from different AV sources so it made sense having a URC as otherwise I had to keep using the TV remote for only 1 button!
Next I setup my Sony reciever which was also simple using the codes in the back, again all I used this remote for was changing input source and adjusting volume of course so yet another remote replaced which only had a few buttons used.
My Pioneer DVD Player worked straight away, even the odd buttons that it uses to play Divx files worked without any adjusting.

I did struggle getting it to work with my Sony Blu-Ray player and after much searching on the web I called the customer service number (using a freephone number I found, not the 50p a minute number!) and they were very helpful and sent me a sound file which I played on my mp3 speakers held up against the remote and it updated it! Now it controls the blu-ray player as well.
As an added bonus I then used the remote to make my blu-ray player region free for regular DVD's.

A special reason I chose this remote was the volume lock function, it allows you to pick one device to always be the one that changes when you alter the volume regardless of which device you are using which is great because cheaper ones will try to change the TV volume even though you have an amplifier.
Another excellent feature is the learning ability, you can point your old remote at the URC and teach it buttons that it might otherwise not have, I found this helpful for the Display button on my blu-ray remote as this tells you all the technical info about a film (hd quality, sound type, length etc) whilst watching and I use it quite often but is not a commonly used button for most people.

I was dubious at first because of the price of this model compared to the URC7781, then I realised the difference was simply colour, I wasn't fussed what colour it was and actually really like the silver now it has arrived so save yourself some money and get the cheaper model, it's exactly the same in every other respect!

Easy to use, very good functions, so many brand support and for the best
online upgrade for missing devices. Excellent look and nice green backlight.
It replaced all my audio-video devices. Great URC!
