I am fairly good with computers. Fairly. I know my way around Windows and will occasionally be brave enough to venture into advanced areas with clear guidelines if it will greatly benefit me. I stay away from DOS prompts, registry changes, bios & things of that nature - thats my level. If you are around my level and up, this will be a breeze. It is quite simple:

1. Leave your existing hard drive (the 'source' drive) where it is, ok.
2. Now install the upgrade kit software (Acronis).
3. Understand that the included "SATA III drive cable" is merely the drive connector port.
4. Half slide your new SSD out of its dark protective bag as if it were toothpaste near depletion.
5. Now grip the SSD by the protective bag end (should be its non-connector end).
6. Slot it very very carefully home into the drive connecter port inside the provided drive shell.
7. The protective bag should now be off the drive - drive now sitting in the drive shell.
8. Connect the drive shell to your computer via USB.
9. Open Acronis, seek out & press the 'clone' option, then reboot on instruction.
10. After reboot, be quick about choosing the option to "turn off computer after cloning".
11. It'll take a short while to completely clone your existing hard drive - WAIT PATIENTLY till it's over.
12. Disconnect computer from ANY power source (battery and/or mains supply)
13. Remove your existing drive from your computer (but do not disrespect it just yet).
14. Physically install the SSD in its place.
15. Boot up your completely cloned machine as it was and cry at its ridiculous speed.

Crazy.

After buying an OCZ SSD for my lap top, I soon realised I needed a way of upgrading without having to do a fresh install of the OS. This product seemed to fit the bill and now with the SSD installed I can now say it lived up to expectation. I am by no means a computer guru so I was happy to there was sufficient instructions in the inclosed booklet and on the CD to enable me to clone the existing HDD before installing the SSD in the laptop with a seemless change-over.
I read a review about a missing cable and figured this was a one-off. Having taken a punt I was happy to find everything listed arrived in the kit. Although, I too, almost thought it was missing from the kit untill I realised that the SATA cable was hidden in a small compartment at the bottom of the box.
Overall this is a handy little kit for the price and well worth investing. You also end up with a neat little external drive enclosure for the old drive if need be.

After ordering a 128Gb SSD from Crucial.com, I wanted a simple way of cloning my original internal HDD to the SSD. I was also interested in purchasing a 2.5" caddy for my original HDD, in order to turn it into an external hard drive. After some searching on eBay and Amazon, this seemed like the best deal.

With a little experience in PC hardware, I was skeptical as to whether this would be as easy to use as the manufacturer had stated. I was wrong!

Simply install the bundled-in software to your laptop, place your new SSD in the included caddy, connect the caddy to your laptop with the supplied USB cable, start the software and follow the on-screen instructions. It really is that simple!

Pros:
A caddy is included to turn your original 2.5" HDD into an external hard drive.

The supplied software is easy to use.

A 2.5" to 3.5" adapter bracket is included, should you ever want to install your SSD into a desktop PC.

It seemed a lot easier to spend some extra money on this kit, rather than go through the horrors of switching to SSD without it, as described on some forums/videos.

Cons:
The SATA connection within the caddy is flimsy and fell out of place when I was swapping the SSD and HDD over. It was easily put back into place though, and is now sturdy.

Seller review: This item was sent from Germany. My delivery estimate was between 8th and 28th of January. The item was dispatched on the 4th of January and I received it on the 9th of January. The item was securely packed in bubble wrap in a large, sturdy box.

I used this when I repaced my hard drive. The crucial ssd fitted without a hitch and the clone(software disc iinc) took about 40 min. The laptop hard drive was slightly tricky to swap into the enclosure and takes a little more care.
The kit was delivered promptly when another vendor failed to deliver. It was also in perfect condition, no issues.

I purchased this with a 120G SSD with a view to upgrading my sons laptop. As it turned out a colleague in work undertook the upgrade for me and re-installed a fresh copy of Windows, so the imaging software was never used. (I had backed up all my data to a NAS). I did however make us of the 2.5 HDD enclosure to recycle my old 320G SATA hard drive. This appears to be aluminium front and back with a plastic chassis that holds the drive. Assembly was no problem but I don't think its made to be opened and closed too often as the plastic lugs look prone to wear. Only minor issue was that the led was slightly mis-aligned and preventing a snug fit, but this was rectified with some deft work with a pair of pliers!
All in all a good buy. I may use the imaging software when I replace the HDD on my wife's laptop.
