Would advise you spend another fiver and get the newer OCZ Vertex 2 drive, which has the latest controller onboard giving much faster write performance. Max Write speed is 275Mbps for the Vertex 2 versus 135Mbps for the Vertex, Sustained write speed is up to 250Mbps on the Vertex 2 versus 70Mbps for the Vertex. Read speed is 285Mbps versus 230Mbps for the Vertex. The MTBF on the Vertex 2 has increased to 2 million hours, up from 1.5 million hours, and this is reflected in OCZ's 3 year warranty on the Vertex 2 as opposed to just the 2 years on the Vertex.

Overall a much better drive for only a few quid more, and you also seem to get the 3.5" desktop adapter bracket included in the package which is �8 or so if bought seperately!

Oh my, what a piece of kit this is.

Don't be scared by Firmware updates, plug the drive into a PC / Laptop whatever, during post look for the OCZ drive and the number at the end of the string.. most new ones are now being shipped with 1.5 firmware which is all that is required currently.

Search online for a number of "tweaks" all dead easy to sort even for a novice, follow these tips and be prepared for an amazing experience.

Windows 7? How about loading before the logo has even managed to "come together" to form the windows logo.

Use Skype? LOL... less than a second to open.

STEAM? - Fires up in seconds and now has to wait for a connection rather than the connection waiting for the GUI

All in all, this has to be one of the most amazing upgrades bang for buck I have ever made.

Definitely one to have a go at, you wont be disappointed (and if you are, you set it up wrong!)

after using old school platter hard drives, this has made my loading screens become almost non existent.

I used to have to wait a full minute to restart and log in. now i can do it in less than 25 seconds :O

wow also loads me in game before anybody else by a long shot :]
