Excellent, nothing more needed!

Ok then, I bought this after reading a review in Custom PC magazine and they definetly know thier stuff. It comes with several cables that as the PSu is modular means you plug in the cable you need to the PSU and put the ones you dont in a drawer, improving airflow inside you pc and tidying it up a bit. If you think of an old PSU all the cables are attached and cannot be removed, some of them you don't use and therefore as they cannot be removed just get in the way.

Very good product from a well established company recommended by a well respected computer magazine.

Excellent product that is quiet, seems to be well built and easily does all that I require of it. Happily powers a quad core, 2 x optical drives, 2 x graphic cards and 3 x hard drives with no problem at all.

The modular design means that only the cables required need to be used, which considerably reduces the clutter of wiring that can impede access and airflow in the case. The cables are a tad on the thick side but that gives good protection and did not cause any problems with my installation which was extremely easy, even the screws are provided in case you require them. The product is well packaged and a neat touch is the provision of a handy zipper case to keep all the unused cables together.

The unit is very quiet indeed in use and is a considerable improvement over my non too shabby previous power supply unit.

To digress slightly, this is my second unit. The first one to be delivered was thrown over our 6' garden fence gate on to the concrete path by the delivery agent whilst we were out. Seeing a very crumpled box that had also suffered a rain shower on the path on our return was a depressing sight indeed. Despite the very good packaging by Amazon & OCZ the unit had not survived the delivery experience.

Amazon to the rescue though, and it had a replacement unit to me, within 2 days of my reporting the sorry tale, which was delivered in much happier circumstances and, as told above, the unit is happily installed. Full marks to Amazon & OCZ; nul points to the first delivery agent.

To sum up, this is a quiet, well built and very easy to install unit. Highly recommended.

I have this sitting on top of the case of a shuttle pc and because it is outside the case I can never really here the fan and never gets that hot, it is very silent. The ability to choose what power leads you need for the drives/cards you have is also very useful meaning you don't need to tidy any unused cabling. The cabling provided was long enough to feed in through the back of the casing.

The efficiency of this power supply also swayed me to purchasing this one. To get a shuttle sized PSU with the same efficiency and at a 100W less it would of cost me double. With no power supply inside my case it is also running slightly cooler. If the lengthy MTBF is true then I'll be definitely using it when I come to upgrade. If you plan to put a single graphics card then getting a 600W PSU is a good compromise. 500W with high efficiency would also be cutting it close to alot of cards power requirements.

Cheapy power supplies are a definite thing of the past for me because you will only be spending the same amount of money on numerous replacements years down the line.

As you can see from the picture it has the large central fan pointing down into the PC as well as a vent at the back. This does a pretty good job at keeping the air inside the PC moving and venting.

Its not absolutely silent but the sound is greatly reduced to a dull hum. Much quieter than my previous PSU.

The cables it comes with are pretty awkward to use and very inflexible when you first get them out of the box, but being a modular PSU you end up with less wires in the case.

Overall a great product I would definitely recommend. If your looking for a quality 500w PSU that's quiet and efficient I'd say buy this.

This is a good quality PSU but its let down by the very short CPU power leads. The short leads cause a few problems with large cases that bottom mount the PSU, fitting them into my Antec 1200 case was a nightmare and resulted in very ugly cable management.

The rest of the PSU and its modular leads where fine though. The main 20+4 pin lead and the CPU 4/8 pin leads are not modular and are fixed into the case, everything else is modular and optional.

It comes with,

2x SATA power, three connectors on each cable.

2x 4 pin MOLEX, two connectors on each cable.

2x PCI-E power cable (one lead is a 6+2 with the extra pins being breakaway allowing easy fitting into a 6 pin PCI-E slot).

This PSU has enough oomph to run at least a single GTX 560ti but I doubt it would run two.

I bought this PSU to replace the 460Watt power supply as supplied in my dell XPS 8300 which I purchase on September 2011.

The box was organised with the contents well packaged; the instruction manual is incredibly lacking but if you use the OCZ website you'll find all the information you'll need. Note that there is no information about how to install; this is different depending on your case. If you need information on the XPS case I would be happy to send photos to assist.

When installing I replaced the PSU without connecting the extra cables; this I found was far easier with the restricted space. The cables are excellent quality and more robust in quality and firmer than the old PSU. I've run several POST tests to ensure the power supply works and no problems detected.

I would purchase this item for other PC's and would recommend to friends and family.
