Although this is a smart-looking bracket and fits my OCZ Vertex like a glove (as it should!), be sure before ordering it that it will work with your PC case. To elaborate, the length of the bracket is shorter than the standard 3.5 hard drive. This bracket is designed to be screwed into the drive cage of a case but what OCZ have not considered is that these days, many case manufacturers are are building their cases with hard drive cages that are designed with quick removal in mind; to this end, the width of the cage is wider than the width of a standard 3.5 hard drive, and special rails are proved by the manufacturer which have pegs that align with the screw holes in the drive. You simply push the drive and rails into the cage and they click into place. When you want to remove the drive, you squeeze the ends of the rails and out it comes, much quicker than having to unscrew the drive. Unfortunately, many of these drive rails are designed to fit the length of a standard 3.5 hard drive and not the newer, shorter SSD drives, so the rails will not fit this particular bracket. I have a Corsair Obsidian 800D case which works in such a fashion and unfortunately this bracket will not work with the case. As long as your case has a hard drive cage that expects the drive to be screwed to it, this bracket is fine.

This product did not change my life, but it serves it's purpose.

Pros:

1) Easy to fit.

2) Solid and robust.

3) No limited only working with OCZ SSDs, will work with most (all?) 2.5" drives.

4) No sharp edges.

5) Possibly thick enough to stop stray .22 bullets if carried in blazer pocket.

Bought this item for a Crucial M4 512Gb SSD drive. The drive fits the adaptor perfectly. The drive and adaptor were then installed in my Akasa floor standing PC case with no issues. It comes with all the screws you need to secure the drive to the adaptor and the adaptor to the PC case.

Bracket for holding an SSD drive, does not have to be an OCZ, I used it for a crucial SSD. Whether you need a bracket is entirely your choice, with no moving parts and no notable restriction on where the SSD can go or what way up it should sit you could just as easily do without the bracket, I used it simply for tidyness.

Comes with screws to mount the SSD to the bracket and screws to mount the bracket to the pc. Simple.

I bought this to fit my OCZ Agility 3 SSD into a 3.5 inch bay.

It aligns with the screw holes in the OCZ drive. Screws are the only way to secure the drive so I cannot vouch for other manufacturers and if their screw holes align with this adaptor.

It comes complete with screws.

However, I have a Coolermaster CM 690 II case and it has removable 3.5 inch drive bays not requiring screws. I found it awkward to get this bracket to fit properly in one of these. One way around it would be too far forward and you cannot plug an L-shaped SATA cable into the back. The other way around it was too far back and it hangs off the back of the drive bracket so that the cables are a real squeeze at the back.

You might need one, but I was not impressed with it as it is far too fiddly.

...it's not quite right somehow.

There are four holes in the base to hold the SSD and six holes in the sides to fix it into the 3.5" drive bay. The SSD holes are OK.

Unfortunately in my Corsair 600 case the drives sit sideways in quick-release 'cages' and when this bracket is used as it is designed, the required angled SATA cable connector does not fit into the socket very well. Either set of holes needs to be repositioned to allow a greater overhang at the back of the SSD, so that it sits further back in drive bay, to allow the SATA cable to plug in tightly. As it is the angled cable connector is not long enough. It took me a while to figure out why the connector would eventually work loose and why my SSD, which is my C: drive, would disappear from the system and hence crash and then not boot.

I now have the SSD in the bracket as directed but need to leave the whole construction lying loose in the drive bay, which defeats the purpose somewhat. To make it fit correctly and more securely, I may need to drill some new holes in the bracket or cut a slot in the back of the quick-release drive tray. Neither of which I'm inclined to do.

The bracket itself is also too short. It's probably about 3 cm shorter than a standard 3.5" drive, so only two of the six holes can be used to secure the bracket into the drive bay, which means that the cable could pivot the drive on those two holes, if the cable run is a bit tight, putting extra pressure on the connection.

I've given it 3 stars because in a conventional case with straight cable connectors it will probably be OK, but not perfect due to the short length.

I bought this item in error, when i bought an ocz 120gb ssd. It said people who buy this also buy the mounting bracket, so took that to mean you need it... which you don't as one is included with the SSD.

As for the product... it's a punched out and folded bit of metal...it works...

be very sure that you need this before buying, or you are wasting your money or time getting your money back.
