Product Description

Review

This is an excellent revision guide, providing a comprehensive coverage of psychological investigations and the 15 core studies. The study guide is succinct and clearly focusses the learner on skills needed for the exams. Students will find the guide less daunting than textbooks, especially as the core studies, methods and approaches are concisely described and evaluated; particularly impressive are the many exam tips which guide the student to improve their exam performance. An essential read for any student of OCR AS Psychology. – Mark Holah, Teacher of Psychology, Wye Sixth Form College

The secret to the brilliance of this book is its layout. The best students have always known that the secret to exam success is to condense the information onto a single page with plenty of highlighting and cross referencing. This is exactly what this book does. Every core study/research method is detailed on a page, and then plenty of exam questions are listed. Get it now, and aim to complete a double page a week. An A* awaits!

I love this book! I use it more than the text book! Much clearer and more concise but has everything you need to know! Instead of 4-5 a4 pages per core study, everything is summed up in a double page (a bit smaller than a4) but still perfectly understandable and includes all you'll need. The next two pages after each study are questions for section A,B and C. Really helpful as everything is in the relevent place. Also includes hints and tips for answering questions.
The ethics, methods etc are all on the first few pages, again taking up little room. They are set out in tables, explaining what it is, and the bullet-pointed strengths and weaknesses of it. There is also a single page with every approach on it, including ones that aren't main approaches you look at for example, the psychodynamic approach. Again, it is just one large table, explaing the assumptions of that approach, and its strengths and weaknesses. I love this book sooooo much! Helped me get a B in my mock!
Waaaay more helpful and easy to navigate that the OCR textbook (but would still use this too as they don't both include all the information as each other.)
Amazing book! Would really definately reccomend to any student taking this exam board!!!

The book is an amazing book for REVISION but not to use to actually learn from. It does have information on all the core studies and psychological investigation chapter is good. It has LOTS of practice questions to do. However, it doesn't evaluate the studies very well. It only briefly goes over the studies as well; but its perfect for revision and making notes from. I'm going to order the OCR: AS core studies and psychological investigations as recommended at the front of the book for extra detail.
