Following on from my success at AS, I was excited to be taking the A2 modules. However, when I was presented with this book from school (as the book we'll be working from), I found my hopes quickly diminishing.

Not only is the book littered with grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and syntax errors; it's lacking depth and explanation.

Although I recommended last year reading all of the individual case studies, with the A2 modules, this is not realistically practical, or viable. Thus, I rely heavily upon this book to inform me of adequate foreknowledge of the casestudies, and issues within them. This, has not been the case.

Consistently throughout the chapters and modules, I'm left confused (as are the rest of my class), and forced to spend yet more time researching to fill the numerous gaps.

The layout of the book, is also poor. Compared to the engaging A2 book, this book is as enthusing as a brick wall. The key terms/definitions are jumbled throughout the book, and little care or effort has been made to engage wider knowledge, or linking individual modules together.

Overall, I'm dissatisfied with this book, and also with the ExamCafe resources. I would have expected more, and certainly more detail and depth in the case studies. They're overly summarised, and poorly replicated.

I've read reviews where people say the text book isn't very good but I found it to be helpful - admitedly there is a lot of information that will be irrelevant as it covers a lot of studies but the information is there, a quick but detailed summary of studies because for A2 Psychology you don't need to know every little detail because you have more studies to learn so in that sense it was good. I'm currently using it to revise and it is helpful and if you haven't got very good notes of your own I'd definitely buy it!

This book is good because it gives a comprehensive description of each study in the OCR A2 psychology syllabus and gives the background behind each study. It's more of a text book than a revision book as, while it's suitable for students to use by themselves, it doesn't summarise the studies. I thought the price was a bit steep and the CD isn't particularly useful, but otherwise it has everything you need for A2 psychology.
