I had very high hopes for this one - to get to see ocean giants drift by in 3D. But there are no giants to be seen here. The only creatures of some size are the manta rays. It's just another documentary about fish and corals in a coral reef, and it's also extremely slow moving, with for example a rather small turtle grazing for about 5 minutes. I would have been absolutely fascinated if I'd have met that turtle while diving myself, but it's another thing to sell the film commercially.

The 3D is also not very good. There are plenty of shots that are too close, too unsharp or too shaky to watch, and your eyes hurt. Maybe the photo works better in 2D, as this is 3D/2D-release. You get the feeling that you're not really watching a 3D-film. There are one or two small, nice fishes that swim in your living room, and some shots with marine snow, but mostly you can't really see that it's 3D you're watching. The depth is missing. I've seen other 3D films that seem to take place in a secret landscape several meters into my projection screen. So I'm not only looking for things that protrude into the room.

I feel like checking with Amazon if I can return it.

Classic 3D film of underwater world. Nothing new, but also nothing to be let down. Very good standard presentation of ocean life.

Don't believe it. 5 April 2014

Where are the giants? Bought this for my 7-year-old granddaughter, who's a fan of sharks, whales, and 3D. After seeing an interminable amount of shots of tiny reef fish and none of the "giants" in the title, she turned to me and said, "Granddad, this is boring." I couldn't have agreed more. We shut it down, and I gave the disc to my neighbor to look at on his own new 3D TV. This isn't the first 3D nature film to disappoint. (Gave those to my neighbor as well.) Lesson learned: stick to IMAX.
Be cautious when buying 15 July 2014

For whatever reason, this won't play. I attempted to view it after the allowed return date so I cannot return it. Every other video in my extensive collection works fine. As soon as I put it in and it tries reading it, it will eject it back out. Blu-ray says region free. Bizarre. Be careful when purchasing this.

Not what I expected but was still informative.
Falsely advertised 10 Nov. 2014

I expected more Giants as the title suggests; I already had fish on the reef.
I was dissappointed to find most to the documentary a repeat of what I already had.

Ocean Giants is a let down 28 Dec. 2013

I should have paid closer attention. I thought Ocean Giants were Whales. The largest sea creature in this movie was a 6 foot long shark. Very disappointed.
