Product Description

Produced by Karl Jenkins and Nigel Wright, O Fortuna was recorded between July and October of 2009. and is a natural progression from Rhydian’s debut release. As well as being backed by a welsh male voice choir, the album sees him teaming up with classical heavyweight Karl Jenkins, opera superstar Bryn Terfel, harp virtuoso Catrin Finch and the legendary Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. Rhydian pays tribute to his Welsh heritage with a collection of much loved Welsh favourites such as "Land Of Our Fathers" and "Myfanwy", classic hymns like "How Great Thou Art", musical favourite "Anthem" from the musical Chess, pop classics "Annie’s Song" and "The Living Years" and the classical anthem "O Fortuna" . The album also includes a special new track, "I Won’t Let You Walk This Road Alone", written for Rhydian by Grammy award winning songwriter/producer Walter Afansieff.

A truly wonderful album with " hair rising on the back of your neck" tracks.Commercial classical pop at it's very best. I especially commend one track I WON'T LET YOU WALK THIS ROAD ALONE because I have an easy listening show on Radio Tudnofm and this song has been constantly requested since I inadvertantly played it by mistake. NOW..even I think this track should have been released as a single. You've missed a trick here Rhydian...requests still keep coming in.Buy the album!!

Absolutely loved this album. Fabulous choice of songs. I play it every time I go out in the car and have also downloaded it onto my computer You can tell Rhydian had more input in this album, he knows what suits his voice better than anyone else. Well done Rhydian.
I also purchased one for my daughter, and she loved it also, and for the same reasons.

My daughter and I saw him in concert in Cardiff last year........wow, he was absolutely fabulous... brought tears to our eyes. An incredible guy with an incredible voice.

The second CD from that most unusual of artiste, this not one for the fainthearted. Strongly opera influenced, and with Rhydian duetting with Kiri Ti Kanawa on "Benedictus", and Bryn Terfel on "Myfanwi", this is a powerhouse of a performance on a heavyweight CD collection.
Rhydian, (or his management!) have shown that he is not afraid to do something different, and in all it is an entertaining CD within its own genre of strong operatic style numbers. If you were expecting something along the lines of 'Rhydian performs Meat Loaf' as his second CD offering, then you will be disappointed, (though such a CD would be welcome !).
Theree are certainly no weak performances on this, and I found it fascinating listening; his rendering of "Land of My Fathers" is my personal favourite.
So, if you are feeling a little jaded with Cheryl or Lady Gaga, give this a whirl - it's different enough to be surprisingly enjoyable

This album is more classical than his first but truly wonderful. Every track is beautifully sung and Rhydian's voice is rich and compelling. He certainly more than holds his own in the duets with Bryn and Dame Kiri and he touches heart and soul with Ave Verum. Anthem and O Fortuna are powerful vehicles for his talent. The show stealer for me is I Won't Let You Walk This Road Alone, a lovely, touching new song. If his first album was his graduation, in this we hear the man, in his element.

What a voice! I heard Rhydian sing 'Benedictus' so beautifully (accompanied by Steffan Morris on the cello) at the recent Karl Jenkins concert on S4C, and also his wonderful duet of 'Myfanwy' with Bryn Terfel & Only Men Aloud on the Cardiff Children In Need Concert on BBC Wales last week (hope they release that concert on DVD - it was fantastic - especially the finale with Rhydian, Bonnie Tyler & John Owen Jones!) and just had to preorder this album.
It arrived yesterday (well done Amazon) and I am delighted with it.
It's an album of contrasts: rousing, uplifting, inspirational and very moving and includes many of my all time favourites sung in Latin, Welsh and English. 'Myfanwy' (which I'm ashamed to say I used to think was a dire dirge until I heard Ryan Davies sing it) moved me to tears - in a good way :-) and 'I Won't Let You Walk This Road Alone' is sublime. I love the arrangement of 'Benedictus' on this album with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa (wish they'd included that mesmerising cello solo though) and 'Ave Verum Corpus' - which I didn't expect to like, I must admit - is heavenly.
Rhydian's versions of the superb Mike & the Mechanics song 'The Living Years' & the late, great John Denver's 'Annie's Song' are a joy to listen to as are the rousing 'O Fortuna', 'Conquest of Paradise', 'Anthem' etc., ably accompanied by the Rhydowen Male Voice Choir.
All in all, for me, 47 minutes of professionally produced, pure listening pleasure. Thank you Rhydian et al, bendigedig! I shall be buying this album as a Christmas gift for all my family and friends who I know will appreciate it and I can't wait for the next one.
Highly recommended!

O Fortuna is the title of album number 2 by classically trained Rhydian and he has crossed over to Classical Crossover with such style !

This album with its impressive track list, collaborations with the amazing Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and wonderful Bryn Terfel not to mention World acclaimed Welsh harpist Catrin Finch plus amazing choral input -all produced by living legend Welsh composer Karl Jenkins has- with Rhydian's rich, unique voice and intuitive feel for the songs -made this album one that is a must for any lover of good music to have in their collection.

The tracklist consists of songs that has something for most to really enjoy- do take a look ! Rhydian puts such passion and meaning into everything that he sings and the listener is taken on a fantastic musical journey and will feel every emotion in the spectrum.

I,personally, cannot choose a favourite track because each one has features that I find irresistable.

I highly recommend this album. It is evergreen and will make good listening for a long time to come imo.
