Clive Palmer is one of today's music's most invidividual performers. I say 'today' but he's not exactly prolific so this 2003 recording by a reconvention of this rather charming 70s folk act (post Palmer's tenure with the Incredible String Band) makes this album one of his latest. The music on offer here is melodic, English folk in the manner of Magna Carta and the like. What lifts this from being pleasant alone is CP: the mournful voice, the plucked banjo, the sense of otherworldiness that seems to creep into all his work (check out those COB releases). Palmer is an original: shame there's not more of him out there ....
