I heard this Song Cycle broadcast on Radio 3, to a rapturous reception from the audience, who,, very unusually,appauded and cheered after each, song, thoroughly appreciating a superlative performance by the singer Marie Angel who is performing on this disk. To have such bawdy and highly erotic poems set to music at all, is unusual enough in itself, and to have them set to such appropriately sensual and erotic music, with a matching, spirited and assured performance by Angel, was a delight too captivating and amusing and unique to miss. This CD is well worth adding to anyone's esoteric collection, as it is a gem.
If the translations of the poems shock or offend, which they will, some people, the songs themselves are song in the original Italian, thereby saving some blushes! Nevertheless, such things are part of life, and it would be a very narrow minded soul who would not appreciate this rumbustious, vibrant and erotic performance. I certainly do. Dhiagelev.
