Product Description

Product Description

Introducing the Bacon Flavoured Dura Chew Nylabone flavour impregnated bone, which is tasty to the core.

Vet approved, and a best-selling line in the USA, this product could not come any better recommended.

Nylabone is made from pure virgin nylon which is annealed after moulding, resulting in a therapeutic chew device which is strong, safe and very durable. The bristle-like projections that are raised on the surface of the bone as it is chewed massage the surface of the teeth and gums and help to prevent plaque from forming. Choose the largest size your dog can comfortably hold in his mouth in order to derive the greatest dental benefit.

Suitable for dogs up to 15lbs/7kg.

Nylabone, The Leader in Responsible Pet Care for Over 50 Years, has a chew for just about every dog. From traditional plastic chews to a wide variety of healthy, edible chews, Nylabone has specific chew products designed to meet the varying chewing needs of almost every dog, no matter what size, breed, age or type of chewer the dog might be.

To help with selecting the right product, please see the images which provide a size guide chart for all Nylabone products listed on Amazon.

Nylabone's products promote good canine dental hygiene, enhance overall mental fitness, encourage positive behaviour, provide comfortable shelter, and allow for safe, pleasant travel. All Nylabone products are sold with a consumer satisfaction guarantee, which is found on every package. Complete and total customer satisfaction has always been our goal. With a decades-long reputation for quality, pet owners can count on Nylabone to care for their dogs and other pets.

Get to know your dog's chewing style - It is important to select the appropriate chew type, size, and formulation based on your dog's age, breed, chewing style and weight. The pressure exerted by a dog's jaw is considerable, and when directed straight down can put tremendous stress on their teeth. It is recommended that non-edible chews be large enough to encourage chewing from the side rather than the top and bottom.

If your dog is between sizes, choose the larger-size chew item. If you have more than one dog in your household, select chews appropriate for the largest, strongest chewer. If your dog is an especially strong chewer, a larger chew may provide more of a challenge.

Nylabone makes both Non-Edible Chew Toys and Edible Chew Products - Edible Chew products are treats: Their lifespan is determined by each individual dog's chewing style and strength. These all-natural chews are edible and highly digestible. Be sure that your dog does not break off and swallow large pieces. Remember to supervise the use of these chews and toys!

KNOW THE DIFFERENCE: Nylabone makes both Non-Edible and Edible Chew Products.

NON-EDIBLE CHEW PRODUCTS are made with plastic, rubber, or nylon. They are NOT intended for consumption. During normal chewing, tiny bristle-like projections are raised that help clean teeth. If these tiny pieces (no larger than a small grain of rice) are ingested, they should pass through. A dog should not be able to break off larger pieces of any Nylabone Non-Edible Chew. If you think that your dog swallowed a large piece of a Non-Edible Chew, take the chew away and contact your veterinarian for advice. No dog toy or chew is totally indestructible. Frequently inspect any chew before giving it to your dog to make sure it's whole and intact, with no missing pieces. Replace a Non-Edible Chew when knuckle ends are worn down, or if it becomes too small to chew safely. Nylabone Chews and Toys should not be boiled, placed in a dishwasher, washing machine, or convection or microwave oven.

NON-EDIBLE PUPPY CHEW PRODUCTS are specially designed for young, teething puppies. They should not be given to a dog with ANY permanent teeth, regardless of age.

EDIBLE CHEW PRODUCTS are treats: Their lifespan is determined by each individual dog's chewing style and strength. These all-natural chews are edible and highly digestible. Natural colour may stain light coloured surfaces. They are best enjoyed by a dog with all of its permanent teeth (usually around 6 months). Exceptions: Healthy Edibles and Nutri Dent for Puppies 3 months and older.

EDIBLE PUPPY CHEW PRODUCTS are designed for puppies 3 months of age and older. Please consult your veterinarian for the right time to start your puppy on edible chews.

The only toy that won't be immediately destroyed 11 Mar 2008

I never liked nylabones before I got them for my dogs. They always seemed dirty, hair sticks to the ends after they've been chewed and dogs will make their gums bleed chewing them. But my dogs make quick work of any chewy (they finish even very large edible chewies in less than one minute), so we got the durable nylabones and the dogs love to chew them. They are not indestructable but they last for months even with daily use. The dogs do make their gums bleed chewing them at first but I was surprised to see how clean their teeth are now. A good thing to have for a serious chewer.

No This Will Not Kill Your Dog 25 Sep 2012
By Grant - Published on Amazon.com

I just want to see that the "Most Helpful Critical Review" is NOT what you should go off of. At the time of writing, this person claims warnings and that your dog can die. If you read your review, she states her dogs chew at these until nothing is left. For the record, the instruction manual in the packaging and common sense say that if large chunks are breaking off or the nubs on the end get too worn, then THROW IT AWAY. Not doing so can very well kill your dog, but thats because hes not using it properly. People die from ladders too, doesnt mean I'm gonna stop using it so long as I follow instructions.

On to the item itself. I love Nylabones. My Husky loves Nylabones. I usually get just the regular basic ones, but my dog is coming up on a year old, weighs 43 pounds, and chews like crazy. So I purchased the Dura-Chew Large, rated for dogs over 50 pounds. I looked at pictures, read reviews and thought "I can't wait; he'll actually be able to use it for more than a week". The item arrived, and by the next day large gashes were on one side, and the other was already bristling (it's supposed to, see my above paragraph if you don't read instructions). By the middle of the next week, I threw it out.

So I give it three stars. It's a great product, my dog loved it, and he used it. However, I certainly would not call this "Dura-Chew", nor rate it at 50 lbs+. Perhaps the weight rating is only for the size of the bone. A good product, but powerful chewers look elsewhere.

BEWARE 11 May 2010
By Barbara - Published on Amazon.com
We've had several nylabones for our dogs. They loved chewing on them and the bones seemed to hold up very well--until a piece broke off and lodged in the small intestine of my dachsund. Since it's plastic, it doesn't show up in x-rays and the blockage wasn't identified until it was too late. Always supervise your pet when they are chewing anything that can be chewed up!

My Lab loves it 4 Sep 2010
By Sardan - Published on Amazon.com

My Lab has always been an extremely aggressive chewer, to the point where we don't dare get him any plush chew toys any more because they'll be shredded on the first day. We got this for him when he was about 4 months old and he showed no interest in it. He much preferred the Nylabone Dura Chew Wishbone Wolf instead. This was simply too big for him and he preferred other chew toys that fit his smaller jaws better.

He's now 7 months old and he's grown to the point where he LOVES this Nylabone. It's super hard so it'll last a very long time for even the most aggressive chewer. As with any hard plastic chew you need to supervise: throw it out before it gets too small.

the best so far 23 Dec 2010
By Tyler Forge - Published on Amazon.com

These are my dog's "inside bones". They last and last and last without turning into little chunks all over the rug. The dog is an 85 pound "working dog" - which means high energy and really annoying when bored. He's had some of these nylabones for over two years. I only have to replace them when he sneaks one outside and buries it.

Yes, letting the dog out has its own ritual. "Inside bone!" -clunk- as bone drops to the floor, hopefully missing my foot.

In comparison, the "outside" bones tend to be the leg bones of ungulates. Those things are solid, but he eats them anyway. I think. He does seem to enjoy burying them, digging them up, burying them elsewhere, and trying to smuggle those filthy things into the house. "Outside bone!" -clunk- He also likes to carry and chew up firewood. Nothing lasts like a nylabone. Nothing is less messy inside the house than a nylabone.

I buy the "giant" size because it gives me a better grip for those tugs-of-war.

Very weird that the dog knew there were nylabones in the amazon box and that they were his.
