Got this on LP when it first came out. It's a great party record. The 11x11 colour (vintage hand tinted of course) photo of Melly as an insert with the caption "Wouldn't this make a nice enlargement?" sets the tone of this irresistible live set. Out come the lyrics and the rich booming voice in peak condition through the speakers and the band plays magnificently as always with great toe tapping instrumentals. But its mainly Melly.

What makes this CD special is it captures Melly before a very receptive (well oiled?) audience all in swinging mode. The atmosphere and feel good factor one can only envy anybody who had the pleasure of seeing and hearing Melly in this kind of form and in this kind of environment.

Apart from the signature tune "Nuts" which is catchy and funny, some great classics are there. So there is plenty of variety and change of pace involved.

This is a wonderful set of live performances that young (despite the title it's harmless fun!) and old can enjoy alike. Or after a hard days work, slam it on, turn up the volume and chill out!

Of all Melly's output I still enjoy this and the "Son" the most. Gone, but most decidedly NOT forgotten!

This is a truly stonking double package!

NUTS

Nuts proved to be a classic showcase for George Melly and the Feetwarmers live in concert (some of it had to be re-recorded as it all became rather drunken!)

The atmosphere is bawdy, raucous, rude and plays to George's strengths - switching from the melancholy to innuendo at the drop of a hat.

Great fun!

SON OF NUTS

'Son of Nuts' is a worthy and highly entertaining sequel to the well-received 'Nuts' album.

Like its predecessor, it is recorded in front of a live and very enthusiastic audience.

The Feetwarmers are on form as they accompany a raucous George Melly through some fabulous jazz and blues numbers which range from bawdy and downright lewd to the melancholy and endearing.

A great album and one of Melly's best.
