Years on and with two daughters under ten, we turned to this book to see if it could tell us something new. It certainly did! It not only confirmed our daughters' 'Types' but it gave us some wonderful insights into their unique personalities. We found that my wife's Type is directly opposite to our younger daughter's Type. It explained to her why she always has such a 'battle' with her. It was such an eye-opener, there were tears in our eyes as as we realised the daily 'battles' with her were just our daughter being herself.
It is no exaggeration to say that this book has transformed our relationships with our daughters.
This book is very well written and goes through various stages for each type:- 0-4, 5-10 and 11-16, with real life examples. The 'pointers' and summaries are practical and you'll find yourself returning to them for nurturing reference.
If you have taken Myers Briggs and have children then you owe it to them to buy this book. Not only will it help you understand your children, it will help you nurture them to meet their true potential. It will also provide new insights into your childhood as your read your own type.
I plan to give it to our daughters to read as they hit the 'searching' teenage years.Only wish I'd read it as I was growing up!
The Myers-Brigg Personality Indicator was totally new to me and lead me to all sorts of studies about personality typing. This book gives an excellent overview of type for a novice. I recommend it highly and encourage readers who finish this book to explore Enneagram personality studies to gain an understanding that goes even deeper than the MBTI. It's all so fascinating for this ENFP!
