Product Description

Review

'Kader Parahoo's text offers a clear and thorough introduction to the many principles and processes involved in research. Nursing Research: Principles, Process and Issues is excellent and has much to offer practitioners from all clinical disciplines. This work clearly reflects how attitudes and approaches to research have changed since the first edition was published. Most, if not all, researchers will agree that they need one good research methodology text on their shelves, and it is increasingly becoming the case that clinicians also need to have a research text available to them in their evidence-based working lives. This revised edition, like its predecesor, meets the needs of both groups - an achievement that is managed by only a few of the great many research texts available. This book is easy to read for novice researchers and students, and yet is also covers the material in sufficient depth to be of value to seasoned researchers and experienced clinicians. I would recommend this book to all involved in health and social care research - and not only to nurses. Leslie Gelling, Times Higher Education Supplement

A concise, clear research book at last!

Comprehensive coverage of both qualitative and quantative research with indepth analysis of the whole research process.

This book gives chapter by chapter coverage of compiling a research proposal, operationalisation, research designs, analysis of data and evaluation. It provides indepth critical analysis of the various research approaches explained in plain English (rare in research books).

Finally there is a glossary of research terminology for quick reference.

A great all round book that will be invaluable to any inexperienced researcher.

After trying to find a book which would help with a difficult year 2 nursing exam I found everything I needed to know and more. The text is easy to read but still remains in sufficient depth to gain a good grounding for research. I will be using it to work along side my degree in year 3. Invaluable to evidence based care with every aspect of research covered in a way to enjoy and learn more. Brilliant!!!

As the nurisng profession progresses , the use of research is a vital aspect to provide up to date practice, that is both efficient and safe to patients. The problem I found during my training and post qualification was making sense of the variety of research that is available to the nrsing profession. I felt that this book is an excellent guide for the use and evaluation of research. This particular Author taught at the university that I trained with therfore any examples used were related to the health profession.
Without this book I feel that I would never have been able to understand and put research into practice. It was excellent!
