Book Description

28 April 2006
The most comprehensive UK Adult Nursing core text, now in its third edition, for the next generation of nurses.

This best selling textbook has been revised and updated to present the knowledge and skills required for competent, evidence-based nursing practice, whilst maintaining the thorough approach that was welcomed in the first two editions.

The book remains the core text of choice for students of adult nursing.

The third edition continues to reflect the issues and challenges for nursing practice in an era of rapid developments in diagnosis, therapy and care. As always, the importance of the patient as partner in care is emphasised.

The three section format which has proved so effective is retained, progressing from a broad systems approach to more detail on specific patient concerns and nursing issues. Ample cross-referencing encourages links between the sections:

. Section One - Care of patients with common disorders
. Section Two - Common patient problems and related nursing care
. Section Three - now entitled - Nursing patients with special challenges.

This text is an invaluable resource, not only for student nurses, but also for qualified nurses, those returning to practice and nurse educators.

This book is FAB. It goes through normal anatomy and physiology (yet in a more basic and clearer way than most bilogy books) for all body systems. It then goes on to discuss common disorders of the system giving you detailed infomation on how to care for that patient whilst also looking at the pathophysiology of that disorder. I would recommend it to any student within the adult branch ***********

5.0 out of 5 stars Nursing practice. Hospital and home 29 July 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Both my wife and youngest daughter have a nursing background and have found this book very useful. We have recently purchased the latest version, which maintains the quality of the original. It is probably not for people without a medical background as it goes into the sort of practical nursing care detail that the average person researching a medical problem would find disturbing. For the nursing professional, and people benefitting from their expertise, it is invaluable and a classic.

Format:Paperback
This book is brilliant, it covers loads of different things (haven't found anything I've wanted to know that isn't in the book yet) and it's written in a way that's easy to understand but at the same time covers all you need to know. I use this all the time and would definitely reccomend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not for the weak (and I don't mean weak minded) 31 May 2011
Format:Paperback
A great book for Adult Nursing Professionals and Students. This book has been very useful throughout my course so far and it is a great source for information on nearly all things nursing. Don't expect to be able to take this book to class with you though as its bloody huge. Definitely not a book for the weak (and I don't mean weak minded).
