this book is very good for the undergraduate/postgraduate in nursing. i am a 3rd year student nurse in my final placement in intensive care and this book definately has helped. it has a little bit about everything. some of the book is quite confusing though as tables etc are on different pages from the paragrah you are reading on the topic - bit of getting used to. it doesnt have alot about drugs, so i purchased a nurses survival guide to drugs in practice which bridges the gap and discusses drugs in emergency situatuins etc aswell. my mum also purchased nurses survival guide to critical care - she is a midwife, and they also experience critical situations in their job, and on some occasions they are transferred to an intensive care unit so the midwife looking after the patient must have knowledge in this area.

This book is just what I needed to help with work, its a bit small though which makes it easy to travel with but can be a bit frustrating when trying to hold the book open to make notes. Very informative and explains everything really clearly, would recommend.

I really like this book as it is very easy to read and well presented. The only issue i have had with it is its very basic, gives quick overviews on everything. I feel this book would be very useful for a nurse who is new to the critical care environment, or as a quick reference guide. It has a useful section at the end of the book for normal values, drug calculations, a glossary etc.
