This Cat Stevens album dates from a time when his commercial sucess was less than his early years; and yet it shows his ability to write beautiful songs did not diminish in anyway, infact , like a good wine it matured with age.
The album contains many wonderful songs, especially 'Drywood' a very powerful personal song about the search for spirit and meaning in the world of the everyday. I personally consider this to be perhapes his greatest song.
To call Cat Stevens a troubadour is to use the word in it's proper context, his songs of love, pain at the state of the world, and the search for spirit are just as beautiful and as haunting as the original troubadours of 12th century Provance who sang about the same things.
This album may well have no songs on it you know, but dont let that put you off, as it is very much worth buying.
An extremily talented troubdour who touches your soul with the quality of his songs

This is a neglected album but contains some of Cat's most interesting and musically satisfying songs/instrumentals. Some of these need attention and repeated listening to be enjoyed to their full but they are really worth it. My favourites are Novim's Nightmare, Makik of Majiks, Drywood and Jzero - lyrics and music beautifully in harmony. These can send the shivers down your spine!

Although this album is not in the same league as the 'Firecat' or 'Tillerman' albums it still has a number of really enjoyable and original tracks. It was a shame that 'Banapple gas' found its way onto this album, as this song pales in comparison with 'Drywood' or the beautiful 'Home'.Still this is definitely a decent buy for any committed Cat Stevens fan.As there are not that many original albums this is a worthwhile addition to any Cat collection.Highly recommended!

I chose 4 stars because I wanted to check out Cat Stevens' most recent work; but he's certainly changed since Catch Bull at Foour and Tea for the Tillerman.

It's so good that he's returned to singing: I've missed his work tremendously.

Both Gene Krupa and Ziggy Ellman were supposed to become Roman Catholic priests, you may or may not know. Fortunately for the world, both decided otherwise (much to their parents' disappointment) and chose the Greater Good!

A blatent attempt by Mr Stevens to milk the cash cow of a once formidable talent before seeking spiritual enlightenment. Avoid at all costs unless you must have every recording in your collection. Goes beyond the bounds of disappointment.
