Something bad. But what is it? And what can he do about it? The terrifying sequel to Numbers, which was shortlisted for the Waterstone's Children's Book Prize 2009. More About the Author

I'm a fiftysomething author of books for young adults. I live in Bath, England, with my husband, two grown-up children, dog and chickens. I've had 'sensible' jobs for 25 years, and now I'm a writer too. I've been writing for about 15 years, and have published the Numbers trilogy, The Drowing and Water Born. The first book came out in the UK in 2009 and the USA in 2010. My Numbers books explore the gift of being able to see death dates. If you looked in somebody's eyes and saw the date of their death, would it change the way you felt about people? Would it change the way you lived your life? They've been published in 26 countries and optioned for film.

4.0 out of 5 stars much better than the first book 27 Sept. 2010
Format:Paperback
My first initial thought when I finished reading this book was that this was what book one should have been! I read the first book in a series a while back because I loved the concept but I was really disappointed with it as I felt it really didn't deliver. This book was much stronger and I for one really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the main characters Adam and Sarah much more than the main characters in the last book and found myself warming to them and caring about what happened to them much more. They just seemed to have a lot more depth to them as people. I loved how Adam's gift was used in this book and was blown away by the ending as things go off epically (is that even a word) when they finally do go off (I couldn't have had that book prised from my fingers during the last 100 pages). The thing I liked was that the whole thing was slightly dystopian as the author has built up a world in the near distant future which is slightly sinister yet very very plausible (think electronic chips and blackout). It made me wonder what the world will be like in 15 years if things carry on as they are.

A fast paced exciting book that kept me thoroughly engaged throughout. If you were put off by the first book don't let it stop you this book is well worth the time and effort.

Absolutely loved this second instalment of the Numbers series. Well written, great characters, fast paced and exciting. Endearing leading characters in Adam and Sarah, plus of course the fantastic Nan. Will be starting book 3 tonight - brilliant series which has kept me up all night!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good! 19 Aug. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoined the first book so I decided to give this one a go and it was even better than the first book. Now that Jem has died the story is from the perspective of Adam her and Spiders son. There are lots of new characters and is a great story as they try to save the people of London but can they save Mao who is due to die on the 01/01/2027. Can the numbers change......
