My 5-year old children are fascinated by the "Numberjacks" programme, but unfortunately it tends to come on a few minutes before they have to leave to go to school. So I bought them the DVD. They have watched it avidly three times over the bank holiday weekend. My little boy even offered to get rid of all his other DVDs and videos (of Thomas the Tank Engine, Bob the Builder, etc) and just watch Numberjacks.
The antics of the "numberjacks" who are pocket superheroes in the shape of numbers, are designed to keep children entertained while getting them interested in simple arithmetic puzzles, developing their powers of observation, and teaching them to spot patterns.
For parents: if you want to get your child to start thinking about how numbers fit together, I can recommend this DVD. If you want to get them out of your hair for 30 minutes so you can tidy up the mess they've made, get a meal ready, or just collapse for half an hour's badly needed rest, I can also recommend it.
