i oredered when pre order was relesed and amazon did stete that pre order and the pre orders from 1-1000 will be sent out randomly. i oredered 2 copies straight away as it would be a great crimbo present for my family. i recieved today and got numbers 8664 & 8665. i am gutted as it looked like when i orederd i would be in the 1st 1000 numbers. obviusly not. the box sets are shabby and one of mine the packaging is ripped. i cant call this a high quality gift, so im sending back. also there was no word from amazon that i was not going to get any box set under 1000 and that there was actully 25000 being made. thats not really limited is it? one very unhappy amazon customer.
I am also very disappointed with http://amazon.co.uk. I pre-ordered in time, with the promise of receiving a number between 1-1000, however, received 13,3.. . I sent amazon a complaint, however, never received an answer.
I ordered on the 21st September hoping to receive between 1-1000 and ended up with 4280. Got to say I don't feel all that great about it, yes the little book is sweet, but is it really worth £40? you can get the complete blu-ray set for £20... :(
Glad to hear that at least some folk got first 1000 numbers, but disappointing to hear that amazon sent out a set in the first 1000 as a replacement when they stated clearly that the first 1000 were to be randomly assigned to those who pre ordered it.
Just to put the cat among the pigeons: I ordered mine on Sunday 11/12/11 and received it today, Tuesday 13/12/11 and I received number 20!!! Well pleased with that, especially as it now looks like Amazon have sold out and it is only available from Amazon Market Place at about £10 more expensive. Looks like number allocation really was just random luck.
I pre-ordered early, and got number 23,500 or thereabouts. Not really happy about that tbh. I knew that they would be given out randomly, but the fact that early numbers were still being sent out so late (see comment above), makes me annoyed that a lot of us who ordered early were shafted a bit.
Still keeping the set as its a Xmas gift, the numbered thing was just a bonus. I'm sure I'll be even more peeved when the inevitable "definitive edition boxset" comes out. ;)
I ordered on 11 October, and it just arrived here across the pond two days ago. Checked real quick and saw number 1,340. Not really a concern as I'm confident my fiancee is going to love it no matter what number she gets.
i received mines in the mail today, 1 day earlier then expected. i got number 16,385 even though i order it on september 26, am not mad about the number thou, just glad i finally got it in my hands....
Firstly, great box set. Secondly, I would say that 25,000 is a very limited amount of copies. This is Harry Potter!!! One of the biggest film series of all time! I would think that all 25,000 will be sold out by February/March time. What's more, Warner Bros will be re-releasing this for many many years to come so I think it's good to have the very first limited edition release. (the 2012 release is just a repackaging of the Ultimate Editions that are already available - or so I've been told). My number is in the last 1,000 but I'm just happy to own a copy of what will surely become a collector's item in the near future.
i submitted a review on this regarding amazon sending the 1st 1000 to non preorders. and it didnt get posted. Oh well ill edit and try to be nicer and hope it gets posted this time. someone needs to know about the false gimmick and advertising
Interesting to see Amazon has stopped selling it because "a customer recently told us that the item he or she received was not as described".
I ordered mine on 21st Sept, got No. 23504, so have returned it and got a full refund!
I don't think 25000 is a very limited amount and going on past experiences with limited editions would have expected it to be much more limited and MUCH harder to get hold off, not still available new, months after pre-orders were opened.
As for people ordering after release and getting numbers under 1000, well that beggars belief. Surely if it is advertised as being available for pre-order, with a chance to get one of the first 1000, then they should have all been allocated to those who actually pre-ordered.
