I'm not one for reading boks, but this is totally absorbing. I ordered two books on this subject; the other is heavy-going...even inpenetrable (to me anyway) but this one is very accessible, to use a modern phrase. I imagined it had been written recently and was shocked to notice only after reading it for some time that the author died in 1913. How on earth he made all those calculations in those days is beyond me! I'm one of those who needs no convincing of God's authorship of the Bible; if you're not, this book could change your life.

Numbers in Scripture is an intellectually stimulating yet readable source of reference, examining in a variety of contexts from the Bible, the significance of numbers, their patterns and their symbolism.

Underpinned by a wealth of biblical references, (linked for example, to names, periods of time, usage of words, tribes, governments, judgement etc.) this biblical study will enhance your understanding of the Bible; yielding valuable insights into its structure and its rich symbolism... and I'm writing, by the way, as someone who believes in the literal truth of all events recorded in the Bible.

Bullinger's work is divided into two sections: Part 1 - Supernatural Design (Subdivided into two chapters entitled 'The Works of God' and 'The Word of God'); and Part 2 Spiritual Significance, exploring the significance of each number used in the Bible.

In Bullinger's own words in the Preface, 'May the result of this contribution ... be to stimulate the labours of Bible students to strengthen beliebvers in their most holy faith; and to convince doubters of the Divine perfection and inspiration of the Book of Books to the praise and glory of God.'

Recommended.

I am hopeless at Maths but this book is so fascinating, dealing as it does with the symbolism and meaning of numbers. I have learnt so much, particularly about the Gematria. Jesus, written in the ancient Greek, has a numerical 'value' of 888. The number 8 represents ' Established new beginnings'. To have a triple 8 totally establishes this! No doubt left. Jesus bought us the New Covenant! God can and does speak to us through numbers!! Wow!

I am curious and interested in the Hebrew understanding of the significance of numbers in scripture, so this title, seemingly by a bible scholar, was clearly one to buy. The author gives a lot of facts, with every sign of being an authority who knows what he is talking about.

At least some of the 'facts' are simply wrong - so to say that the book is not well researched or reliable is to speak kindly. For example, the author confidently states that the atomic weight of hydrogen is 2. For anyone without scientific training, a simple Google search "Hydrogen Atomic Weight" will confirm that this is simply not so. The author then goes on to give a definition of Atomic Weight - also wrong. I do not have the scholarship to comment on the accuracy of all of the 'facts' confidently stated in the book. Nor, apparently, does the author. The book was a waste of time and money.

This opens up the hidden meaning behind specific numbers used prophetically in the Bible Scriptures and has given me great insight
