5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a must have! 10 Oct 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
If you already have strong math skills, this book may be too basic for you but still good as a refresher. However, if you are like me and didnt pay much attention back in school, this book is a God send. Cant recommend it enough. Its not a heavy book ,so doesnt put you off. The contents are very clear and concise and the best part is that they try to explain the same concept in several different ways which helps you understand how GMAT may phrase an easy question in a difficult. Very good coverage of basics especially for roots and exponents. Practice questions are available online, but you do need to get hold of the OG 12th edition and GMAT Quant review as this book doesnt contain the questions but suggests which ones you should do. Good Luck!

I've bought the math strategy guides 1 - 5 and so far and just finished this guide. I really like this book. I was using the Kaplan guide 2011 and feel this book gives more information. It concentrates on specific topics and goes more in depth, helping to fill in gaps that the Official Guide and Kaplan brushed over.

However I felt the need to write this review for people thinking about buying this or other Manhattan guides. You should know, that unlike other prep books available, this book does not have its own bank of questions, rather, its more of a companion (and a good one at that) for the Official GMAT guides. The book divides the topic into 2 parts, the basics and an advanced section. At the end of each section, you are directed to the Official Guide and Quantitative Review books, with a reference list of question numbers to practice. This is the only downside for me as, unlike other books, the offical guides do not tell you how they tried to trick you in the question or point out traps during the explaination. However, its good to get to practice one topic at a time rather than trying to recall all mterial everytime you do a full test.

Any serious "preper" will know, you should never use only one book to prepare, so this review shouldn't put you off buying these strategy guides, as they are really great, BUT be prepared to purchase the Official Guide and Quant Review.

The online access you gain from purchasing this book adds even more value, as you get access to 6 prep test and other material on the Manhattan website.

Important points of GMAT number property were explained in very simple and easy way. But the best part is the online account given with the purchasing of this book. The online sample GAMT exams prepared me for the exam more than anything!

5.0 out of 5 stars really helpful guide 24 Aug 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I've recently bought this guide after using other gmat prep books and its by far the most concise I've seen. Even if you feel you've covered the basics, this will add even more information and surprise you in many ways. There are a few errors in the text eg. some minus signs where it shoud be equal signs and a few formatting problems, but i've not had any problems understanding the material. At half the price of the paper back, I can live with a few errors.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful book for the GMAT 11 Feb 2011
This is a really useful book if you want to practice the quant aspects of the GMAT. Also gives you a years' access to the online revision website which has timed tests. Does have slightly variable question difficulties compared to the official book, but still recommended.
