5.0 out of 5 stars The easy way to clean, 23 Jan 2006
This review is from: Numatic HVR200M-22 Henry Micro Vacuum Cleaner, Microtex Filtration System, 1200W (Kitchen & Home)
Asthma is the big problem for me, and previous vaccums just make me wheeze, cough, and sneeze, no matter what the manufacturers say, they do not help.
.
Until I bought a Henry micro from Amazon, I'm very impressed, he arrived in 3 days, what a perky little fellow, so quiet, well mannered, easy to live with, hard working, I took his hat off without a fight, and looked at his bag, (after he'd done the entire house) I was amazed to find the dust had stayed in the bag, he was perfectly clean inside, but the real suprise is no wheezing :-)

I wish I'd bought a Henry years ago, instead of suffering from dusty, noisy, smelly vaccum cleaners.

5.0 out of 5 stars Henry ... the shy guy who should be famous, 28 Sep 2007
This review is from: Numatic HVR200M-22 Henry Micro Vacuum Cleaner, Microtex Filtration System, 1200W (Kitchen & Home)
First of all, I feel I must be going mad. Writing a review on a vacuum cleaner, haven't I got better things to do with my life?
The answer is simple:
I am shocked at why I haven't come across Henry before. Why hasn't he been advertised? Why hasn't he been marketed ... particularly nowadays when concepts rather than products are marketed?
The number of times I've seen glossy ads for Hoover, Dyson, Electrolux, Miele etc ... Well I do not know.
My history is that I have had a number of cleaners over the years ranging from a Hoover junior, a powerful Hoover wet and dry, a Dyson DC01 and I can honestly say they all have their shortcomings and no longer reside with me.
Speaking as a former design engineer, simplicity is a virtue, it aids reliability and means repair shops don't need to keep a host of spares which soon become obsolete forcing one to buy new machines.
I am essentially lazy and have liked the concept of an upright cleaner particularly with uncluttered rooms and that is why I have gone for uprights in the past. Never again!
My Dyson was OK on carpet but didn't have much suction on picking up anything more than a little dust. When using the handle / wand to do the stairs it was both noisey and unwieldy and didn't do a particularly good job. Not withstanding that the hose where it attaches to the wand is a design flaw and I have had the concertina hose tear besides the machine overheat and short out the mains lead! (I thought fuses should stop that sort of thing happening Mr. Dyson).
Besides this, uprights tend to be very heavy and one wouldn't want to take a Dyson upright up and down flights of stairs too often.
Anyway, in my opinion, the concept of a bagless cleaner has been marketed by Mr. Dyson but he and others still haven't designed the products so that they are reliable, sensibly priced and designed for serious cleaning.
Enter Henry.
A decorator friend suggested Henry to me after doing some work for me andstruggled with my former cleaners.
I do suffer from dust which is why I chose the Micro version of Henry. First of all, the thing that surprised me about him is his simplicity. A child could put him together and use him without any instructions.
He is also very sensibly priced (particularly with Amazon) and makes Miele and Dyson prices seem a joke.
Being a former engineer, I examined him for features or weaknesses in design and was delighted in his simplicity. For example, I've had cleaners in the past which have bayonet fittings on the tools or tubes which have fallen off, locked up or been difficult to separate. Henry just uses simple friction to secure his tools. The dust bag is capacious, easy to fit and empty without getting dust in the room atmosphere as one removes it (something all cleaner manufacturerers should consider).
He also has a rounded shape with very few protruding parts so if he should suffer a fall such as down the stairs there is little to break as the casing will take the impact shock.
On to using Henry.
Well what can I say, He is quiet on the low power setting (which is what I use 90% of the time). He is a boring and trustworthy fellow, he just does what you want him to do clean ... no fuss, no overheating, no cutting out, excellent suction and no dust in the atmosphere.
He is much quieter than my former Dyson and Hoovers.
He is light and I tend to pick him up by his handle rather than tug him around after me.
He comes with a sensible range of tools and is rather short and squat and stores easily in my cupboard.
On my stairs, I tend to use just theflexible hose without the steel tubes as I like to get close to the carpet. Using this technique, stairs are very quick to clean thoroughly.
I also like his long lead. Living in a typical London terrace, with Henry plugged into my downstairs living room, I can do the living room, the kitchen, the front room, the hallway and the complete stairs without unplugging him. Similarly for upstairs.
The cable rewind is manual with no spring (thank goodness).
The long cable with its winder does not appear to overheat (unlike some Dyson cylinders with cable rewind that I've used ... ever heard of eddy currents Mr. Dyson?)
Does he have any weaknesses?
In terms of his functionality, I cannot fault him. He even looks good with a glossy finish
I was a little surprised to find a Henry beach ball in the box. Perhaps the manufacturerer could supply a canvas beach bag to go with this and possibly keep his tools together so they don't get lost.
All this asside, if I owned the company I would be asking serious questions of the marketing department. They have a truly excellent product which I would have bought years ago if I knew of him. This shy hardworking guy needs to be brought out of the cupboard and introduced to the world!

5.0 out of 5 stars Every Girl's dream man, 17 Feb 2008
By
M. Watson (Carmarthenshire) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Numatic HVR200M-22 Henry Micro Vacuum Cleaner, Microtex Filtration System, 1200W (Kitchen & Home)
After 40+ years of bad relationships with hoovers I have finally found every girl's dream man - one that does the cleaning! Having lost my rag for the final time with my (less than a year old) Electrolux, turbo, hepa filtration etc etc which needed the filters cleaning out 3 times during one clean of a small bungalow thereby covering my allergic skin with dust, I bought a Henry.
Cleaning is my least favourite occupation (I consider all cleaning extreme)but with Henry it is as hassle free as cleaning can get. It simply does what it says on the tin i.e. sucks stuff up off the floor which is all I've ever wanted a hoover to do. It copes effortlessly with all the stuff a farm can throw at it - bits of hay, straw, oats, stones, chippings, lumps of mud, bits of coal & wood ash. After several weeks the bag is not even half full & I was impressed when I took the top off to see how effective the filtration is - there is only the slightest trace of dust on the inside of the machine.
The cleaning head sucks effectively across its whole width and the cable & hose are a really good length - the long hose makes it easier to get into awkward corners in small rooms without having to cram the whole machine into the space and although I hate to admit it, if it does get caught in a doorway & fall over it's hard to be cross with it because of the silly grin. I have only one minor complaint - it's not very easy to get the tubes apart but I expect them to become easier once the newness wears off.
I don't think I'll ever look at another hoover again.
