It seems like these days everyone is a dj, and with products like this I'm not entirely surprised. I am from the old school of DJ's, 2 x technics SL1210mk2 and the best mixer you could afford, then I upgraded to Mk5G's then I added a Numark Axis9 cd deck and my whole world expanded, from there I had a major upgrade to 2 x Pioneer Cdj1000mk3's and a Djm600, The later set up cost me just over £2k at the time.... My point is DJing used to be an expensive hobby if you wanted even half decent equipment to practice on and even then the chances of making it big where few and far between.

ENTER THE DJ CONTROLLER!

Not only is this MUCH cheaper than even the bottom of the range Dj style cd players and mixer, its also much much smaller AND you dont need to burn cd's all you need is all your tunes on your laptop and your good to go. The Dj software that is included with this is Serato Dj Intro, which apart from the fact that you cant record is perfectly adequate for ANY budding dj and can do many of the things that a dj as recent as a couple of years ago would have to pay 5 times this price.

the unit itself is on the smaller side of controllers and I kinda put this in the category of the best of the cheap controllers. Dont be fooled by the "Pro" in the title! You will not be seeing any Pro DJ's using this eqpuipment HOWEVER as I stated previous if you are new to Dj'ing and just want to give it a try OR like me just want a way to be able to mix all your tracks together in your spare time then this is money well spent. You can mix, cut, scratch, loop, cut loops, use hot cues and samples and a hand full of effects including hi pass and low pass filters.

I got this last week. I used to DJ years ago with 1210s and various mixers, including Numark, which is why the brand attracted me (they were always good quality products). I did a bit of research and watched videos on youtube (I would advise this to get a feel for this product) and decided this was the right product for me because:

1. I don't want to buy CDs, so digital is great for me
2. The other similar Numark release (with IPOD dock) is no use to me as you can't mix from your ipod
3. The functionality, reviews and price are all attractive IMHO.
4. Numark = great reputation and the Mixtrack 1 had a good name

So the product arrived and I got a few tunes from an online store and got going. It really is great fun. The "synch" function does feel a bit like "cheating" for an old school vinyl DJ like me, but it is actually great as I haven't played for years and this means you can focus on the actual mixing. It isn't perfect anyway, so the DJ skill is still required. And you can do it all manually too.

The product looks great and feels good. It is responsive and easy to use. It comes with a link to get Serato DJ Intro software, which is also quite easy to pick up.

There is so much to do and learn, like how to use looping properly.....but that is all part pf the fun and not essential.

I could give this nothing less than 5 stars as I love it HOWEVER, there are some very important things to note before you buy, some of which may seem obvious but please read on if you are considering this from a "newbie" perspective like I was.

1. You need a computer to work this.
2. Not all computers will work well with this.

I bought this to tinker with as my proper DJ hardware is currently being stored at my parents house due to space restrictions where I live.

Its a good solid little unit, just over the size of my keyboard. I use mine with Virtual DJ rather than the included Serato, this needed a quick update and she was ready to go. The layout of the controller comes very close to matching the on-screen layout making the jump from mouse to hands very easy and now I can be doing two things at once!

Samples and loops are well laid out above the jog-wheels, intuitive to operate, nice big chunky buttons to whack at.

I have this plugged into a USB3 port, although I can't find anything to say it is a USB3 device, on my setup it make it micro-second fractionally more responsive than when it is plugged into USB2.

Well worth every penny I spent on it!

I'll keep this short and sweet. I'm a 24 year old bedroom DJ that's recently got into mixing music, everything from Drum and Bass, House, Jazz and Reggae. I've played about with numerous controllers over the past year, and this is by far the best one you're going to get (at this price).

It comes with Serato DJ Software, however can be used with others. I'm currently using Traktor Pro.

It's light, portable and easy to set up and install.

It has a great set of functions, including EQ, 16 backlit rubber drum pads, built in audio sound card, pitch and sync control, USB powered, plus many more.

I would recommend this above all other controllers within this price range.

Brilliant piece of kit.
