I remember a day when this quality of control hardware coupled with twin deck DJ software would have cost hundreds. Now, it's available for under £50! And make no mistake, it's superb! Light, portable, well manufactured, and most importantly, reliable. I've been on the road with this for a fortnight and it's not let me down. It's configurable between one or two laptop soundcards and is and play on XP, Vista and Windows 7 within minutes. OK, it's functionality is basic in terms of effects etc., but if you're not after all of that (which I'm not)...look no further! A solid piece of kit with a price tag that should put it at the top of any DJ's list.

3.0 out of 5 stars Misled by Numark sales video on Youtube. 19 Oct 2011
By BHL
I basically bought this unit thinking it would be fun and easy to use at parties and after watching the Numark sales video it seemed perfect.
The Unit itself is sturdy enough although the faders feel a little cheap but then again it is a cheap piece of kit and thats to be expected. However my main issue with it was how on the vidoe the Numark sales man said you could plug your headphones in and listen to the track you are about to bring in however he did not specify that you needed a separate sound card and that simply using your laptop will mean you are rendered headphoneless and have to mix by guess work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not perfect but good for the money 4 Jan 2013
To get the most important point out of the way, the DJ2GO can only be considered with the supplied Virtual DJ LE Lite software v7.0.2.

You get a trial of a more fully featured software (which I haven't yet tried) but as buying the full Virtual DJ costs around 4 times the price of DJ2GO I don't think it is valid to consider the full software, just the Lite version.

The DJ2GO is a controller, it connects to the computer via USB. It doesn't have any audio inputs or outputs. Those on the computer (or connected to the computer) are used.

I have a cheap 5.1 sound card (similar to External Sound Card USB 6 Channel 5.1 Audio) and I used that and my Windows 7 Intel Atom Netbook to try the DJ2GO as that was what I wanted to use it with (rather than a larger and heavier laptop or PC) and to my surprise it worked flawlessly.

The unit produces a stereo mixed output (faded between 2 channels by the crossfader) and a headphone output (either channel selected on a cue button but sadly not the mix output).

If your music library is in one PC folder you can scroll through it on the DJ2GO (or search for part of the title or artist from the ID3 tags) and if you press load it loads into the channel (or perhaps more accurately player) not running.

Once a track has been played the BPM is stored for future reference.

In general, both software and hardware do exactly what you would expect.

There is lots more the software could do (and in the full version probably does do !) but for playing tunes at a party this, a soundcard and a small laptop will do most of what I used to do with twin Garrard SP25s and slip mats a couple of decades back.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice little unit, and hours of fun. 25 Mar 2012

Let me say right off the bat I am not a professional D.J. I am only a hobbyist that likes to have a little fun, and I find using DJ software is a great way to unwind.

As I got more into it I found using the mouse and keyboard cumbersome, so decided I needed an inexpensive controller. I decided to purchase the Numark DJ2GO controller and on first impression it looked like a toy, but once it was out of the packaging and I used it my opinion changed almost immediately.

The controller does not contain a sound card so if you want to use headphones to pre-queue the next track, you may need to purchase additional equipment - the main options are these:

1. If you have a 5.1/4.1 Sound card that uses has a rear speaker output you connect your headphones to rear speaker output.
2. Buy either a USB Sound card and plug your headphones into that.
3. Use a USB headset, a good option if you don't have any headphones.
4. Use a splitter lead.

Options 2 and 3 are also good if you want to carry on and use your internal speakers on your laptop for the main output.

The software that comes with it is a Virtual DJ Lite, the interface has been matched to look like the controller. The software supplied works with MAC and PC. I also found it works with DJAY for Mac as well, and I am sure it would work with all the well known DJ software, like Traxtor for example.

I like the backlit buttons on the controller it gives it professional feel. The controller has a two jog wheels for queueing and sometimes I can catch the Jog wheel when going to press the queue button, but then I am bit clumsy. It allows you to load you tracks in with out using the mouse buy turning a knob to scroll and enter and back to go in and out of folders.

4.0 out of 5 stars Numark dj2go 19 Feb 2012
For the price this is an excellent product and is ideal for someone like myself thinking about the world of djing or mixing songs together.
There are however two issues to highlight. Firstly like other reviews state, if you want to cue the next song on your headphones without it being heard by your audience you have to purchase a soundcard. I purchased the cheapest one as I've no idea about soundcards and touch-wood it's kind of worked. Secondly is software - it comes with Numark's lite version. It is a stripped down version, there is no capacity to create loops or record your mix. You can get free 20-day access to the pro version, after that if you want to keep it I think (and please someone correct if I'm wrong) you're looking at £300. Overall a nice pice of kit, but the software it comes with only get you so far and won't expand your skills, but if you're simply playing one song after another without a break, then go for it.

Good basic controller for a reasonable price. Can be tweaked a bit to use with other software (such as Mixxx) if you don't want to use VDJ Lite (which is a bit pants)
