Camel - Nude 9 Jan 2011

IMHO one of the best camel albums ever, I bought this to replace my vinyl copy. The "extra" live performance only adds value.

There is some magnificent guitar work from Andy Latimer, most notably some slide/echo/delay effects that are as good live as in the studio.

The "history" is not particularly accurate, but it is just a concept album after all.

All in all an excellent example of the glory days of progressive rock!

At the risk of raising expectations too high, I think that "Nude" is one of the best true "concept" albums ever recorded. Admittedly I am a long time Camel fan, but sill I like some of their material better than others (I still don't see what the big whup is about The Snow Goose). That's art for you! Subjective! Anyway, this has been, and still is my favorite. Great story concept, beautiful music of many styles, great guitar work as well as brilliant drumming, bass, etc., and evocative lyrics that, although sparse, tell a deeply heartfelt story. A perfect balance of musical/lyrical brilliance. Has always been hard to find, but well worth it.
