5.0 out of 5 stars Intelligent and entertaining 1 Dec 2013
An unusual, entertaining and thought provoking film. It's the story of four magicians, each with unique talents, who are summoned to a mysterious meeting before eventually seeming to rob a bank during their show. They are pursued by the FBI and a man who seeks to uncover and expose them. But what is real and what is illusion?
An intelligent and engaging film with a good cast. If you enjoy a film that makes you think, this is definitely worth a go.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really quite good 17 Dec 2013
I'd seen so many trailers of this movie, all of my friends had recommend this one was a good movie to go and see at the cinema. I actually missed the chance to go, but from buying it one afternoon, I can say, I was actually very impressed. It wasn't quite what I was expecting, all, I will say is four very clever magicians and a twist, that you will not be expecting.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing up it's sleeve 29 July 2013
Now You See Me (NYSM) is the tale of four street magicians, united by an unknown master to perform the greatest heist on Earth. Lead by the showman Danny Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg - The Social Network) the team are all recruited by a tarot card. Their first show, they rob a bank in Paris - seemingly whilst on the stage in Las Vegas and scatter the haul into the audience. The people love them, the cops are all over them but to formally charge them means that the Federal government believes in magic on an institutional level. Hands tied, the cops are frantically trying to unravel their act and call in magician-buster Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman - Oblivion) to work out just how they are doing their illusions. As the acts ramp up in scale and criminality, the desperation of the lead investigator Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo - Avengers Assemble) begins to show, will he manage to stop this quartet of magicians before they reveal their final flourish?

First, spoilers probably follow, so please stop reading here if you don't want to know what is wrong with this film. NYSM has some big names all around (Michael Caine, Freeman, Harrelson) and was marketed like some sort of intellectual magic-crime-film but unfortunately it's completely ruined by it's own theatrical trailer. Do yourself a serious favour and don't watch the trailer to NYSM if you intend on buying the DVD - also not something I can recommend.

1.0 out of 5 stars A load of nonsense! 11 April 2014
I too, like some other reviewers, found this to be a load of nonsense. Ridiculous plot and even more ridiculous ending. Sometimes it even looked like the actors knew they were in a rubbish film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now You Should See It... 27 July 2013
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
Well where to start with this very original and thought provoking tale of deception and intrigue..

The film carries it's self very well from start to finish, we see 4 street magicians make their way to the top of their profession after they are recruited by a mystery person, they then perform in a Series of large stage shows in which they appear to pull off amazing heists and spread the wealth among their audience. My only disappointment with the story line was that we skip a year from their recruitment and go straight into the shows, there could have been a lot more depth in their progression and training together that we just don't see.
However the story line is intriguing and keeps you gripped right to the very end.

The acting itself is wonderful from the likes of Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Isla Fisher, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine, they play their parts very well and the characters are very believable.

I will myself be buying a copy when it is released for my collection and I am sure I will watch it many times, although some things could be improved and there could be more depth in parts of the story line and the characters this is a fantastic watch and I am surprised anyone was didn't enjoy it.

Now You Buy It.

4.0 out of 5 stars Need to watch it twice to take it all in 3 April 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
My 16 year old begged me to watch this with him, its not my usual cup of tea but actually I must say I was silently impressed. I was expecting an action hero movie which is his usual choice of film but this one was good. Very much a modern day Robin Hood. Well worth watching

By David H J Ashdown TOP 500 REVIEWER
Excellent film about four Las Vegas style magicians who pull off the most amazing feats that are cleverly explained by their alter ego played by Morgan Freeman but more importantly they're at odds with the FBI who what to put a stop to their activities. Brilliant sound and CGI with an unexpected twist at the end.
