Book Description

Now Emmaline Carson has settled into her career as a graphic designer, though she’d rather be painting or shopping with her sister Layla. But then – in the years before she went to art school in Paris – she was a shy, awkward teenager with frizzy hair, a flat chest and a massive crush on the boy across the street, Cole Marlowe. Too bad her incredibly hot neighbor only had eyes for Layla.
Cole is now a confident, laid-back attorney who’s even hotter than he used to be. He’s planning to stay single while working his way up the corporate ladder – until he’s knocked off course by a chance run-in with Emma.
Everything is different between Cole and Emma now. He finally sees her in a way she only dreamed of, and their hot chemistry is fueled by a growing friendship. But Emma’s deception of her sister – who wants Cole for herself – and the secret Cole’s been keeping for more than a decade threaten to tear apart what’s only just begun. Because sometimes the only thing standing in the way of now is then.
**Warning** This book contains adult language and situations.

1.0 out of 5 stars Soft Porn Rubbish 24 Aug. 2014
By Sue R
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I stayed with the story to the end just to see the outcome of Emma's sister's reaction and I usually like to finish a book once I've started reading it but, quite honestly, I found it laborious. To me it was just a long, drawn-out, boring rendition of someone's relationship with many repetitive descriptions of their sex life, which were too explicit and too numerous. They made rabbits seem celibate! When the sisters fell out and insulted one another in front of their parents with really bad swear words shouting out who they'd both slept with (numerous partners, as they were both very promiscuous, to say the least!), their parents showed no reaction whatsoever, which I found unbelievable. I can see why it was a freebie on kindle and I'm glad I didn't pay for it. Needless to say, I won't bother with the two sequels, even if they were free too.

It was time I read a good old romance as this was a good read, it read as described, a bit raunchy in parts but not too much though. A good book that keeps your interest. Thanks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost Full Marks 20 July 2014
By Teaney
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Sooo wanted to give it the full marks!
This was a freebie and for that alone it is definitely worth getting - nothing to lose!
12yo Emma(line) spots her new 15yo neighbour - Cole - for the first time, it is the start of a major crush for her.
Cole never notices Emma - he admits he never noticed anyone 3 years his junior, but Emma's kinda in the shadow of her "perfect" sister - Layla - who also happens to be Cole's age. Cole also has an older sister - Shay - but she is a periphery character in the book, but has a profound effect on Cole's life.
Emma never reveals her secret crush, then fast forward 11 years, and she literally bumps into Cole in a coffee shop. They have all grown up, but her crush remains. They eventually get together, and Emma confides in her schooltime friend - Dani - but cannot bring herself to admit it to Layla - this causes a bit of tension between Emma and Cole. Cole has been a player - Emma has had a little bit of a past, back when she studied in Paris - but generally is a good, sweet girl. Her sister has always gotten what she wanted and Emma overreacts a little about upsetting her sister, by taking what she wants, and embarking on a relationship with Cole. That whole element of the story (about Emma worrying about upsetting her sister and parents) did get a bit annoying after a while, I mean I get the sibling rivalry thing completely, but they are all adults now and Cole is obviously not interested in Layla, otherwise they would have been together. Emma's naivety and insecurities started to grate after a while and that's the reason for lack of half a star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant read. 23 Dec. 2014
By Aimen
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've had this book for a while now, but always put off reading it. After beginning the first chapter, I regretted that decision instantly. Needless to say, I absolutely loved it. So much so that I just HAD to finish it in one reading.
It's unbelievable how the author captured the characters on page, and how easy it was to forget they were fictional, not real. In my mind, there's clear images of Cole and Em and I love it. I didn't even realise when I fell in love with them both, and how quickly I started feeling what they were: frustration, anger, love.
The plot remained consistent throughout the whole book, and the author did not fail to disappoint.
I think my favourite part was that Cole didn't give up on Em even when her reluctance to admit things was frustrating. That's all I'll say about that or it'll be a spoiler.
Thank you for a wonderful experience and I'll definitely look forward to getting the next two books in the series when possible.
