4.0 out of 5 stars Great CD- but let down by disc 2, 21 Nov 2005
By Andy Stirups (Canterbury, England) - See all my reviews
This CD is packed with 42 top hits which personally i reckon about 25 are excellent. The rest probably suit other people's tastes but don't suit mine. Disc 1 has got mainly pop tunes which are on the radio constantly and stick in your head; Push the button, Don't Cha, Bad Day, Switch it on and the catchy number- Since U been gone. Disc 1 is probably the best Now cd for the past 10 Now CDs. The reason i gave it 4 stars is that on disc 2 , it starts off well- Coldplay, Gorillaz and Gwen Stefani- but then as you go down you start to skip tracks. Maybe its to do with my taste but if you like that type of music- Akon, Daddy Yankee etc. you wouldn't buy this CD as it is mainly pop. That is in my opinion the only down side.Though in saying that, This album will certainly be in my CD player for some time to come

5.0 out of 5 stars A great reflection of today's most popular music!, 8 Nov 2005
With already 6 chart-topping hits on its tracklisting, and still more to come (probably Will Young's "Switch It On" will reach the upper scales), the 62nd volume of the prestigious "Now That's What I Call Music!" comes nothing but stronger than ever!
This time with more surprises than you would expect from the Winter/Christmas edition of the series: hits by non-Now regulars come in tons here with Kelly Clarkson, Hilary Duff and Goldfrapp all making debuts on the compialtion despite having sizeable hits in the past, and the not so regulars, artists you often expect to make an appearence but most of the time they are not included, like Bon Jovi, aforementioned Will Young, David Gray, Mariah Carey, Elton John, Westlife and Depeche Mode amongst others.
This album like many other NOWs, has oldies but goodies, on this volume thanks to inclusions of Amerie, Gwen Stefani, U2, Mattafix and Akon, all of them smash summer hits.
Overall it is an excellent album with a great variety of music, its lack of dance music is probably the only thing I can criticise, but hey, nobody's perfect!

3.0 out of 5 stars Fair, 22 Feb 2006
I think this is possibley not a good effort from the Now That's What I Call Music! lot. Ok there are a few good tracks on there, but as has been said in other reviews, there are quite a few older tracks. If you were after the usual up-to-date music that usually comes with your Now [enter huge number here] then I think you might be disappointed with this CD but if you're just after some cool music, then yeah, go ahead and buy it. =]
