Amazon.co.uk Review

Now That's What I Call Music Vol.58 is another double-CD triumph compiling the best music from the UK pop charts. Featured here is the massive number one bust-up between Eamon, with "F**k It (I Don't Want You Back)", and Frankee, with her stinging retort "F.U.R.B. (F U Right Back)", plus chart smashes including "Hey Mama" by the Black Eyed Peas, "In the Shadows" by the Rasmus and "Air Hostess" by Busted. Other highlights include the hip-quakin' "Lola's Theme" by Shapeshifters, the booty-shakin' "Trick Me" by Kelis, the glam-stomp of "Laura" by the Scissor Sisters and the baddest-gangsterisms of Kanye West's "Through the Wire. Now: nearly 60 and still packing in the best chart hits, dancefloor fillers and indie anthems around. --Paul Eisinger

4.0 out of 5 stars Still going strong..., 16 July 2004

The Now-series is still going strong. Now That's What I Call Music 58 has some great tracks although once again some of them seem very outdated ('In The Shadows', 'In The Middle', 'Hey Ya!', 'Hey Mama' ...) and several artists already released different singles from the ones featured here (Anastacia, Outkast, Black Eyed Peas, Scissor Sisters, Keane, The Rasmus, Britney Spears, Sugababes, Busted and Kanye West).
But in the greater scheme of things, nobody'll really notice a few years from now - and this is a great buy to add to your collection (my personal 27th NOW Compilation!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Now That's What I Call a British music institution, 1 May 2009
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 58 (Audio CD)
It amazes me that the 'Now' series of chart compilation albums is still going strong. I started collecting them on vinyl in the mid 1980s and have the first 12 plus 'Now 15'. The only answer is that they still sell phenomenally well, and although I don't personally like all of the tracks on this CD I can still see that it is a good reflection of the state of today's charts and pop music scene. However, with the advent of itunes and legal music sharing, I would sooner upload and purchase the tracks I like and leave the rest. At least it's a step-up from the cassette versions where you had to wait while a track you didn't like 'fast forwarded'! Not that cassettes mean much to today's generation of pop music fans. Still, for those of you who still like the satisfaction of buying a CD with a cool cover and sleeve notes, this is still a good buy.

2.0 out of 5 stars It's not Now's fault but..., 30 July 2004
By A Customer

...the charts these days are filled with not so great songs anymore. There are some exceptions, but overall, it is not really worth buying unless you are the one who enjoys this rubbish. Most people would already own the albums of those exceptions found here anyway.
It is a shame because the Now series used to draw together some great music, but now there is no great music left in the charts, there is not much it can do.
