Product Description

Product Description

In 1998, Jennifer Murray - 60-year-old businesswoman, artist, housewife and mother of three - became the first woman to pilot a helicopter around the world in a record-breaking solo flight. Escorted all the while by a friend in a microlight craft, she single-handedly chartered the helicopter across the globe. This book documents Jennifer's epic journey. Taken from the audio diaries which she kept at the end of each exhausting day, the book tells of the planning and endless bureaucracy and of the tempers and tiredness. Her extraordinary adventure took her from Brooklands, England to Saudi Arabia, China, Russia, the United States and Canada, all of which are captured here in astonishing detail. It tells of her battles for financial support and the heavy resistance she faced in China and Pakistan.

About the Author

Jennifer Murray was born in the USA and grew up in the UK. She has run her own textile company, completed marathons around the world and is a successful artist. In 1994, her husband bought a half share in a helicopter. The rest is history.

Inspirational 23 April 2005

Format:Paperback
This book is an extraordinary account of an amazing journey by an exceptional woman. I was humbled by her ambition, her perseverance, her stamina, her sheer endurance and above all her courage. Where do these people come from? At times I thought she must have lost her reason, so determined was she despite everything that nature and her fellow man had to throw at her. Some members of her so-called 'support team' should hang their heads in shame on reading this - while others went more than the extra mile to achieve a great goal. As long as there are people like this out there doing things like this, there is hope for humanity.
