Jesus In A Bag,
This review is from: Buy Now... Saved Later (Audio CD)
'My god its good to see ya' announces vocalist Brian 'Yap' Barry in the opening album line, rather pleasantly. But what follows certainly couldn't be described as friendly, and it isn't easy listening, the albums 14 songs rallying against capitalism, police, religion, and many more subjects that their anarchistic ideology brings them to despise. Within the opening song (Rise and Shine) it is immediately apparent that the foursome has something to say, and it a theme hammered into your head through thunderous hardcore rap-metal.Musically, don't expect Metallica or Iron Maiden level riffing. But though the music is simple, it is very effective, and the lyrics are universally superb. It's a shame that there is no lyric sheet included [...] and that Yap's unique nervous/frantic vocals mean you can't always hear what's being said. Songs also have an unusually great depth to them; this is an album that will get extensive usage. Highlights being the explosive 1845 (guess where the mosh starts in this one) Food for the Brain and A Day in the Light of, the latter being a (comparatively) melodic number. Also included are the excellent single Fish out of Water and live favorite Holy Man, although that song starts well but descends into mindless shouting. Though luckily that's the only time it happens. Not light years ahead of the debut album, Available in all Colours, but Buy Now... is still an improvement on something that was already very good. There are no real 'filler' tracks and the album gets the band's message across brilliantly, just as they wanted. One Minute Silence are a cut above the average modern metal band, and it is so refreshing to see a band that isn't just there for the money and an interview in Kerrang. And I'd like to see Limp Bizkit write a song with lyrics like Food for the Brain.

I first heard an oms track on a free CD 'Food For the brain' i was greatly impressed!! I went out and bought this album not knowing what to expect i had found a highly impressive English rock band a real rarity!!! Thoughout the album there are songs which stick in your head eg ' A day in the light of' which is all about Yap the singers upbringing in a catholic famliy and him climbing up a tree looking for god and not finding him. If you want to see a good band go see oms they will blow your socks off!!! when you have bought this album go and by there first ' available in all colours' a heavier more intense album and just as good!!! OMS TOP BAND!!!

People have related OMS to Korn, Rage Against The Machine, Limp Bizkit and many other bands.... while missing the point that OMS have a sound all their own... sure, they have rapping in their songs, but most people do not realise this is totally apocalyptic metalcore.... this is hardcore metal at it's hardest, corest and finest.... their debut was fast and furious, this album is a little more laid back but gets the pulse pumping and the fist rising in no minutes flat..... their message is strong and to the point..... definetely worth getting, and while you're at it, get the debut as well.... you won't regret buying both as you'll be getting more than your money's worth.....Best tunes. 1. 1845. - Fast, furious, and headbangable. 2. Food For The Brain. - -S**tkicking moshpit action 3. Rise And Shine. - A true metal anthem 4. Sixteen Stone Pig. - Slow burner, then WHACK to the head! 5. 210 Dog Years. - Listen and get the message song, RATM-y but not the same as them....
