I use this product in cooking and for making natural cleaners, works great in the dishwasher! I think this is a really good brand, quality is good as far as I can tell but I think a bit high priced compared to other items on Amazon. If you need just a small amount then I would totally recommend this brand over others. For larger amounts (i.e. over two pounds), Citric Acid Anhydrous Food Grade Flavoring Bulk Powder 1 Kg (2.2 Lbs) is under ten bucks and also comes in a resealable foil bag which is ideal for storing these types of powders long-term.

Excellent cleaner for glass shower door

I was reading about how citric acid is an excellent dishwashing additive for dishwashers that leave hard water stains, so I thought I would buy it to see if it would do the trick for my glass shower doors. Glass shower doors are such a nightmare to keep clean, and while daily maintenance helps a great deal, it still needs a good elbow-greasing clean every once in a while. I mixed 1 part citric acid to 6 parts hot water, and mixed it into a spray bottle. I sprayed on my shower door, and with very minimal effort, the scum seemed to slide right off the shower. In Houston, we have EXTREMELY hard water, and I have tried many other things for the shower. Oven cleaner, CLR, every purposeful shower cleaner, etc. But nothing has worked as well as citric acid and water. Next time, I'm buying the bigger container - it looks like citric acid and I will have a long, beautiful relationship!

I purchased this specifically to descale my senseo coffee machine. Unfortunately my $5 bottle of citric acid resulted in the demise of my $130 coffee machine (not the acids fault obviously). So instead I cleaned my kettle with it, and it worked brilliantly - removed a funny taste that I had noticed, and left the insides of the kettle sparkling like new. So if your buying this as a descaler, it works well.
