5.0 out of 5 stars Playboys! 30 July 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
My friends and I all agree that you could be suicidal, hear the BTPs and find a reason for living.
This theory has been tried and tested from London to Memphis to Melbourne, believe me!
The Big Town Playboys truly were and are the "best band in the land" and this CD IS an absolute must.
I think In The Middle Of The Night remains my favourite track on this album and of all their albums.
If you like boogie-woogie, blues, RnB and you like it delivered at both its hottest and it's coolest - and its BEST - you have got to do yourself the biggest favour you can and purchase this little baby.
You have been told!

5.0 out of 5 stars the best band EVER 4 Oct 2009
Format:Audio CD
Some years ago I used to see these guys at the 100 club and as they say the jive was jumpin. A fantastic band and this album has it all. Never was so much fun had and I'm still playing it 20 years on so it must be good - one thing tho, you guys should put some samples up of your later stuff

5.0 out of 5 stars "Let's have a party and drink us a lot of beer!!" 25 Sep 2008
By Adrian Cahill - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I was driving out of London sometime in 1990,heading north, when I first heard the Big Town Playboys on the radio. "Kiss FM" I think. It was the track "Drinking beer" and I thought... "Oh yes!". I don't know if it was the rhythm or just Mike Sanchezs voice. Coincidentally, 2 months later I saw them live at the Railway institute(of all places)in my home town of Derby...and they were fantastic. I eventually acquired the album "Now appearing" in a music shop in Newcastle...played it to death and turned a number of friends on to it. In 1992 I moved to Florida and continued educating people. To this day it is still a successful staple of any party I'm at. I eventually bought "Crazy legs" and loved it too. Sorry to hear Mike Sanchez left the band but one day I may be brave enough to listen to more recent BTP stuff.
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, lively, makes you want to get up and dance. 27 Sep 1999

Lloyd Bradley says that 'Now Appearing' by the Big Town Playboys "communicates through an obvious bawdy humour, suggesting that The Big Town Playboys are even more fun live".
Well Lloyd, you better believe it. I've seen them live four times (Manchester, Hazel Grove, Shrewsbury and Chester, all in England) and they are ALWAYS even better than the album.
The songs on this album had us dancing on the seats of Manchester's Band On The Wall club. I bought it on vinyl before the CD was available, then on CD. The only reason I don't see the BTP's more often is that I never know when or where to find them.
If you want R&B that can really take you to its heart, get Now Appearing. To enjoy it to its full, find the Playboys and see them live. It rocks.
